We are backing Netherlands to win!

Although this edition of the Cricket World Cup League 2 is into its seventh tri-series, there is still plenty of road to go for all teams and at present the league table is very congested.

That should lead to a competitive fixture in Oman on Tuesday, particularly as Netherlands lost to UAE with Oman beating the same opponents in their last fixtures!

It has been the bowlers who have had the upper-hand at this venue so far in the tournament although Sunday's game did see over 450 runs scored, a marked improvement on Friday's 257. We expect plenty of life in the pitch and batters will need to be wary particularly against the new ball in both innings.

Both sides will have their eyes trained on the top two of Canada and USA, so we can expect an attacking affair!

Oman Preview

It was a fine performance from Oman in their opening game of this tri-nation series as they swept aside UAE to win by six wickets with a very comfortable 38 balls remaining. More of the same is likely to be the call from the team management and if the bowlers in particular can deliver something similar then they could well pull off another victory.

Samay Shrivastav was the pick of the bowling attack against UAE with the 33 year old leg-spinner taking 4/25 but all six of the unit picked up at least one wicket and captain Jatinder Singh will be hoping they can all reach the same levels.

Chasing 129 should have been easier than Oman made it look and after a mini-collapse saw them go from 18/0 to 21/3, careful batting was the order of the day to get over the line. In this game, expect the likes of Jatinder and Hammad Mirza to play the most attacking innings for Oman.

Oman Predicted Playing XI:

Jatinder Singh (c), Ashish Odedara, Karan Sonavale, Aamir Kaleem, Hammad Mirza (wk), Mohammad Nadeem, Sandeep Goud, Shakeel Ahmed, Samay Shrivastav, Jay Odedra, Muzahir Raza

Netherlands Preview

Netherlands will have been very disappointed to fail to chase down their target of 241 against UAE on Sunday but they have a group of experienced international players and we expect the group to get together for some serious conversations to result in a much better performance in this game.

The conditions may not be exactly the same as what is found in Netherlands but this squad of players have played on pitches like this many times over recent years and they will not use that as an excuse.

Scott Edwards and Bas de Leede remain two of Netherlands' top level players and they have the ability to help rebuild the side's innings in the middle order or to play quick-fire as required.

With the ball, Roelof van der Merwe will get turn and Paul van Meekeren is likely to be the most dangerous of the pacers.

Netherlands Predicted Playing XI:

Vikramjit Singh, Max O'Dowd, Noah Croes, Scott Edwards (c) (wk), Bas de Leede, Shariz Ahmad, Roelof van der Merwe, Timm van der Gugten, Aryan Dutt, Michael Levitt, Paul van Meekeren

Weather Conditions

It will be another warm and sunny day in Oman with the temperature likely to be above 30 degrees from start to finish of this match. Humidity levels will stay at around 40-45% throughout the game and there is no danger of any interruptions from poor weather.

OMA vs NED Pitch Report

There is something for the pace bowlers to work with here in Oman and particularly when the balls are hard we can expect to see movement off the straight. Equally, the spinners should be able to get the ball to grip which should also encourage the quicks to send down some pace-off cutters. Any score approaching 300 should be enough to win the game.

Toss: To Bowl

With this pitch likely to offer the most for the pace bowlers early in the day, we predict that both captains will choose to bowl first if they win the toss ahead of the game.

Although they are on home turf, and beat UAE comfortably at the end of last week, we expect to see Netherlands coming out on top in this match. Oman have quality in their side but it is Netherlands who have the stronger players across both XIs and they should be able to have the better of both innings.

We are backing Netherlands to win!
