The reigning champions in the Boston Celtics have started this season in a great manner as they are hoping to retain their NBA crown this season and will be looking to achieve their first back-to-back titles since the 1981-1982 season. 

Having won their first four fixtures against the likes of the New York Knicks, the Washington Wizards, the Detroit Pistons and the Milwaukee Bucks the Boston Celtics seem to have a mission in mind as they have retained all their core players from last season’s NBA triumph while also adding former Mc Donald’s All-American Lonny Walker IV although he has since been waived.

While they did win their first four games of the season the Celtics lost their first game of this season against the Indiana Pacers in overtime and while the loss did cost them the top spot in the East the Massachusetts side quickly responded to the defeat with two wins in a row against Hornets before making it three wins against the Hawks. 

Despite the quick turnaround they did lose to the Golden State Warriors at home recently and while Tatum did manage to score 32-points it wasn’t enough to get them the win as they currently sit 2 games behind the Cleveland Cavaliers and will be hoping to make a quick turnaround once again as they host the Brooklyn Nets on Friday evening.

Unlike the Boston Celtics who have had a flying start to their season the Brooklyn Nets on the other hand have been a curious case as they have had a very similar start to their season as last year but having missed out on the play-in and the playoff last season it will be interesting to see how they manage to react from this situation. 

Currently boasting a 4-4 record the Brooklyn Nets are in a good position currently as they sit fourth in the Eastern Conference standings but given that they have played a game extra compared to most teams they could fall from this position of comfort easily in the coming few days. Having begun their season with back-to-back losses the Nets then got their first win of the season against the Milwaukee Bucks who at the time of writing are second from the bottom and are currently of a six-game losing streak.

This win against the Bucks was then followed by an overtime loss to the Nuggets but the Brooklyn side quickly recovered in their next two games as they won against the Memphis Grizzlies and the Chicago Bulls which left them with a record of 3-3. 

While they were hoping to go on a winning streak the Detroit Pistons spoiled any such plans as a 106-92 loss left the Nets licking their wounds before finally resurging once again against the Memphis Grizzlies in a 106-104 win on Monday.

This topsy turvy win and loss scenario has been a feature of the Brooklyn Nets this season and while the likes of Cameron Johnson and Dennis Schroder have been the guiding angels to their season so far, they are one injury away from getting dismantled and might need players like Simmons to continue to remain fit especially after he missed the last two games for the Nets.
