Game 4 was the Knicks at their best. OG Anunoby led the way with 22 points on 56% shooting with 10 rebounds and a plus-19 the highest of anyone in the game. Towns' triple-double was the first of his playoff career and he dominated both ends.
Anunoby clamped down on Jalen Johnson, holding him to 4-for-12 for 14 points. The Hawks committed 18 turnovers in the first half alone, and the Knicks' high-pressure defensive scheme with physical pick-up points and collective spirit was the decisive factor.
Back at MSG for what is effectively a home playoff knockout round, the Knicks have every advantage. Brunson left in the third quarter with an ankle tweak, was re-taped, and returned his status should be fine for Game 5, but even 80% Brunson at Madison Square Garden is a problem for Atlanta's guards.
Expect him in the 24-28 range. Towns has finally found his early-game aggressiveness and can push for 26-30 points two straight games of dominance from him suggest he has figured out how to attack Atlanta's front line coverage. Anunoby at 20-plus is now realistic every game given how locked in he is defensively and how much the offensive flow opens up when he is confident from three.
The Knicks on average, score 110.3 points per game, they score 46.1% from the field and are ranked 7th in the league, and 37.6% from the arc and are ranked 4th in the league. The Knicks grab 45.3 rebounds per game and ranked 5th in the season.
Game 4 was the opposite of everything Atlanta had been doing. McCollum was held to 17 points and went 0-for-4 from three the hero of Games 2 and 3 went missing when the Knicks decided to make him uncomfortable all night.
Johnson shot 4-for-12 and never established a rhythm as Anunoby's pressure cut off every passing lane and forced him into contested looks. The Hawks entered Game 4 with a negative net rating 12th-best out of 20 playoff teams and their scoring ranked in the bottom six among playoff teams. The math eventually caught up.
In Game 5 on the road, Atlanta needs a completely different performance from its two stars. McCollum at 28-32 points is not unrealistic he has scored that or more in two of the four games and he is far too experienced to have a second consecutive flat game.
Johnson needs to stop letting Anunoby dictate terms. His 22.5-point, 10.3-rebound, 7.9-assist regular-season averages say he is capable of a defining performance; he has not delivered it yet in this series.
If both of them go off simultaneously, Atlanta can steal one on the road. Daniels and Alexander-Walker providing defensive energy and staying aggressive in transition is the difference between Atlanta keeping this competitive or going home early.
The Hawks on average score 104 points per game, they score 44.8% from the field and are ranked 9th in the league, and 32.6% from the arc and are ranked 11th in the league. The Hawks grab 39.8 rebounds per game and ranked 14th in season.

The Knicks, despite leading for 91% of game time across the series, are somehow only 2-2. They have outrebounded Atlanta by 14 in the series total and still found a way to drop two games on the road by single digits.
That is over. Brunson's ankle tweak is the one wrinkle if he is even slightly limited, McCollum will smell blood. But MSG for a Game 5 of a tied playoff series, with Towns in this kind of form and Anunoby locking down Johnson on both ends, is exactly the moment this Knicks team was built for.
Head-to-Head Record (Last 5 Matches):
The Knicks lead the last 5 H2H 3–2, averaging 120.4 points per game while giving up 113.4 to the Hawks. The Hawks scored 113.4 per game and conceded 120.4 in that stretch. High-scoring matchup. Avg combined total: 233.8.
| Player Name | Points | Rebounds | Assists | Steals/Blocks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jalen Brunson | 25.5 | 2.5 | 5.3 | 1/0 |
| CJ McCollum | 24.5 | 3 | 2.8 | 1.3/1.5 |
MSG in a Game 5 is where the Knicks have made their name over the last three years. Towns is locked in, Anunoby is the best defender in the series, and Atlanta simply does not have the firepower depth to match New York when the Knicks bring their full defensive intensity. Brunson closes this one out.
