Asghar Afghan-led unit will not be making any changes to their playing for the final game of the series. The side will need to guard against complacency and keep their focus against Ireland on Tuesday.

In the second T20I, Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bat first in ideal conditions. The home side got off to a steady start, courtesy 57-run between openers Hazratullah Zazai and Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Wicket-keeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz played a crucial inning of 35 runs off 30 with the help of three sixes, whereas Hazratullah Zazai chipped in with 28 off 33 balls with the help of one four and one six. Experience duo of Asghar Afghan and Mohammad Nabi added 74 runs in a space of just five runs to see Afghanistan in a strong position post a daunting score on the board.

Asghar Afghan-led from the front with the bat and smashed 49 runs off 28 balls with the help of four boundaries and three sixes. Mohammad Nabi provided adequate support to Asghar Afghan and also scored crucial cameo of 27 off 17 balls with the help of two four and one six. Samiullah Shinwari, Gulbadin Naib and Najibullah Zadran have contributed with crucial scores for Afghanistan in this three-match T20I series.

The spin trio of Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi once again delivered the goods to help Afghanistan clinch T20I series. Off-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman claimed three wickets, while Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi picked up one wicket each.

Ireland Preview

The visitors will need to raise their overall in order to avoid a possible whitewash at the hands of Afghanistan. The bowling unit has failed to create enough pressure on Afghanistan’s batting lineup in this T20I series. In the previous game, pacers Joshua Little and Boyd Rankin conceded a lot of runs and failed to make breakthroughs with the new ball.

For Ireland, medium-pacer Craig Young bowled well and finished with 1 for 27 in his full quota of overs.  Chasing 185 runs to level the T20I series, Paul Stirling and Kevin O’Brien perished early while trying to go for big runs in the initial overs.

All-rounder Kevin O’Brien scored 19 runs off 11 balls with the help of one four and two sixes. Captain Andrew Balbirnie and Harry Tector put on a 49-run partnership to provide a glimmer of hope for Ireland.

Andrew Balbirnie produced valiant innings for the side and scored 46 runs off 35 balls with the help of five fours and one six. Middle-order batsman Harry Tector also chipped in with handy innings of 37 runs off 29 balls with the help of three boundaries and one six.
