It was a dominant performance from South Africa in the opening game of the series in Cairns as the tourists ran out 98 run winners in the day-night contest at Cazaly's Stadium.
In truth, the margin of victory should have been even bigger as South Africa collapsed from 223/2 to 285/8 at the end of their 50 overs but their bowling attack proved way too good for Australia's middle order.
It was Australia who won the T20Is 2-1 but South Africa are now just one victory in this series away from completing the 50-over equivalent.
This clash on Friday afternoon and evening looks like being a real contest between two strong sides and any of the supporters in the Great Barrier Reef Arena will be in for plenty of entertainment.

If it hadn't been for batting all-rounder Travis Head and captain Mitchell Marsh, the opening batting pair, then Australia could have suffered a much heavier defeat on Tuesday and it could well be that they are key to their success at the Great Barrier Reef Arena on Friday.
Head is mainly in the team for his batting ability but he took 4/57 from his nine overs in the first ODI and we can expect Marsh to bring him into the attack early in this contest.
Josh Hazlewood went wicketless but Ben Dwarshuis continued his strong form with 2/53 and Adam Zampa, who received a demerit point for something picked up by the stump-mic, will be keen to make headlines for the right reasons.
Marsh struck over 44% of Australia's runs in the first ODI and all eyes will be on him, Head and Marnus Labuschagne, the top three to do the bulk of the batting work in this ODI.

All eyes will be on 31 year old right-arm off-spinner Prenelan Subrayen in this ODI after he was reported for a suspect action following the first ODI. He will need to undergo an independent assessment within 14 days of the report but is free to play in the meantime although one expects the local crowd to let him know their judgement on his legitimacy!
Subrayen took 1/46 from his ten overs in Cairns and is likely to enjoy the surface in Mackay where he will be joined by a host of players in fine form and still buzzing from the first match of the series.
All of the top four of South Africa's batting line-up made scores of between 33 and 82 but don't be surprised if Tristan Stubbs and Dewald Brevis make up for missing out.
With the ball, Keshav Maharaj took his best ever ODI figures in Cairns and will be keen to follow them up with similar returns in this his 50th ODI.

The game will begin with the temperature up at 25 degrees and although it will cool as the game progresses it will still be at least 19 degrees when the match ends on Friday evening.
This is the first ODI to be hosted at this ground but the locals will all tell you that it's a fine ground for batting. Any total under 300 will be tough to defend in the second innings of the game.
There will be something of the unknown ahead of this ODI in Mackay, particularly under lights. Therefore, we predict that both captains will want to bowl first in this game.
South Africa will undoubtedly be confident ahead of this game but Australia very rarely perform badly in back to back games across any format. We expect a closer contest with Australia levelling the series at 1-1.
We are backing Australia to win!
