The Aussies will face South Africa Legends in the 15th fixture of the Road Safety World Series 2022. Australia Legends have registered a thrilling last-ball win over Bangladesh legends with a superb 21-runs chase in the last over. South Africa Legends are still struggling to get back on track this season.

After playing 2 games against Sri Lanka Legends and Bangladesh Legends, Australia Legends have managed to win 1 game and with 2 points, they are in 6th place on the points table. The African side on another end has managed to win just 1 game of the 4 they played and with 3 points they are in 4th place on the points table.

Australian captain Shane Watson, who has scored 74 runs in the last 2 innings with a strike rate of 168.18 needs to depart earlier if South Africa Legends wants to create an early chance in the match. Australian pacers on the other side will have a huge responsibility to tackle the challenge of Morne van Wyk, who can be dangerous if he bats 30-plus balls in the innings.

Australia Legends Preview

Australia Legends overcame the issue they faced while chasing the target in the first match against Sri Lanka Legends and registered a victory against Bangladesh legends while chasing the target. In the 3rd game, they will face South Africa Legends at Dehradun who are struggling with the form so far this season.

Shane Watson-led side used 8 different bowlers against Bangladesh Legends in the last match where 7 out of those 8 could manage to take 1 wicket each. With the help of a superb bowling display, the Aussies restricted opponents to 158 runs. Cameroon White departed earlier on just 3 runs while chasing 159 runs in the 2nd innings.

Shane Watson (scored 35 runs from 21 balls) and Callum Ferguson (scored 24 runs from 20 balls), tried to settle down the innings in the middle overs and Brad Haddin took charge in the death overs to finish the game with a brilliant inning of not out 58 runs from 37 balls. He scored 21 runs in the last over of the match to claim points for his team.

The Australian team has good depth in the batting as well as the bowling department. Batting order till 8th wicket and 8-bowlers option in the bowling adds an advantage to their side when they face South Africa Legends in the next match on Friday at Dehradun.

Key players:
Shane Watson, Cameron White, Nathan Reardon, Brett Lee.

Australia Legends Predicted Playing XI:

South Africa Legends Preview

South Africa Legends have managed to win just 1 game so far this season and got defeated against India Legends and Sri Lanka Legends in the league. Now they will face Australia Legends in the upcoming match on 23rd September.

After registering a 9 wickets win over New Zealand Legends, South Africa Legendes were looking more confident against Sri Lanka Legends in the last match. While bowling first against SL-L, Vernon Philander and Garnett Krugger, tried to put pressure on opponents’ batters and were successful to restrict Sri Lanka to 165 runs.

Chasing 166 runs against the Sri Lankan bowling attack was not an easy task for them but Morne van Wyk (who scored 76 runs from 56 balls) and Alviro Peterson (who scored 22 runs from 22 balls), both were in good touch during the middle overs. Unfortunately, other batters failed to contribute to the efforts and as a result, Proteas ended up on the losing side.

This team needs to work on their lower-order batting strength which has ability but have not used that properly so far this season. Facing an Australian bowling attack that has variations with them, will be a tough challenge for African batters to play against.

Key players:
Morne van Wyk, Jonty Rhodes, Vernon Philander, Garnett Kruger.

South Africa Legends Predicted Playing XI:

Andrew Puttick, Morne van Wyk (wk), Alviro Petersen, Jacques Rudolph, Jonty Rhodes (c), Vernon Philander, Zander de Bruyn, Johan Botha, Garnett Kruger, Eddie Leie, Alan Dawson.

Weather Conditions

The weather will be rainy on match day with 30-40% chances of rain on Thursday. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be in the 27°C - 17°C range. The pitch favors bowlers in the later part of the innings as the ball comes late on the bat.

Venue Details

Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun will host this match. The ground can accommodate 25000 people and has conducted a few international as well as domestic games so far.

Toss: To Bat

The ground has conducted 6 T20I games so far. Out of those 6, the team which preferred to bat first, won 4 times while defending the target.  Here the general trend is the winning captain chooses to bat first.

By looking at both squads, Australia Legends are looking strong as compared to South Africa Legends. The kind of bowling depth Australia Legends have with them gives them an upper hand in this fixture against South Africa. South Africa Legends on the other side are still struggling with their batting unit this season and the Aussies will try to attack this weak nerve when they face each other on 23rd September.

We predict that Australia Legends will defeat South Africa Legends.
