Chamari Atapattu-led unit put in a decent effort with the bat and ball in their opening game played against New Zealand women.
After losing the toss, openers Chamari Attapatu and Hasini Perera got the side off to an excellent start. The duo added 60 runs in the space of the first seven overs.
Chamari Atapattu led from the front with the bat and finished the innings with the top-score of 41 runs off 30 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes. She was well supported by Hasini Perera, who chipped in with 20 runs off 28 balls with the help of two boundaries. With the side placed at 99 for 3 after 14.1 overs, they struggled to increase their rate of scoring and could only add 28 runs in the final phase of the innings.
Wicket-keeper Anushka Sanjeewani chipped in with 15 runs off 21 balls, whereas Harshitha Madavi smashed 27 not out off 26 balls to help Sri Lanka post 127 runs in their allotted 20 overs.
