Bangladesh defeated West Indies 2-0 in their last test assignment at their home soil.  They have a very experienced line-up with the likes of Mominul Haque, Soumya Sarkar, Mahmudullah, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mushfiqur Rahim. Shakib Al Hasan has been appointed as an interim captain and he will look to take his team to victory in this one-off Test. Mominul Haque and Mahmudullah scored centuries in their last series with good contributions from Shakib Al Hasan and Shadman Islam. Bangladesh is expected to go in a spin heavy attack in this match. Shakib, Taijul Islam, and Mehdi Hasan are certain starters in the playing XI. Nayeen Hasaan will be the fourth spinner in the squad and is expected to slot in the playing XI.

Shakib Al Hasan – Shakib is the MVP for Bangladesh in all formats of the game. He returns to the team after a brilliant all-round show in the WC2019. He will look to make contributions with bat and ball. 

Mehdi Hasan – Mehdi Hasan took 12 wickets in their last home test against West Indies and he is expected to play a huge role in this match too. He is their No.1 spinner in the team with the likes of their skipper.

Afghanistan made their test debut less than a year ago and they achieved their maiden victory in their second test against the Ireland team. Openers Inshalluh and Ibrahim Zadran made 50+ scores in the warm-up fixture and are expected to open their batting in this match. Hasmatullah Shahidi, Rahmat Shah, and Asghar Afghan will form the middle order batting of the team and are very experienced players in limited-overs. Rashid Khan will take over the captaincy responsibilities and this will be his maiden Test as a skipper. Mohammed Nabi and Zakir Hussain are expected to partner Rashid khan in the spin department. Zakir took a five-wicket haul in the practice match against the BCB XI.  Yamin Ahmadzai and Shapoor Zadran will face-off for the lone pacer`s slot in the starting XI.

Rahmat Shah – Rahmat Shah had scores of 98 & 76 in their match against Ireland and was instrumental for their maiden Test victory. He will look to repeat his good performance in this match too.  

Rashid Khan – Spinners are expected to play a huge role in this match and Rashid Khan is the trump card for Afghanistan team. He has enough experience of playing against different players across different conditions.
