India will remember this series loss for years to come. A star-studded lineup with Kohli, Rohit, Dhawan, Iyer, and KL Rahul has failed miserably in consecutive matches.

Rohit Sharma’s heroics towards the end of the 2nd ODI brought India close to what could have been the best ODI win of all time. The injured skipper played on a different level.

India’s Axar Patel and Washington Sundar can have a good time with the ball while Shakib and Mehidy Hasan Miraz will be key players for Bangladesh.

Mustafizzur Rahman who relies on back-of-the-hand slower deliveries is also enjoying great help from the pitch. Siraj has found a good amount of swing with the new ball and will be a key bowler in the first 10 Overs.

India’s batting order will be a major concern for the visitors as they look to avoid a complete whitewash. With Rohit Sharma injured, Rajat Patidar can be a great replacement for the Indian skipper.

Bangladesh Preview

Bangladesh were the better team on the day. They did not have a stronger batting lineup that delivered better performances than their Indian counterparts.

There was only one exceptional player in the side who delivered both wins for the team. It was the home advantage and the spirit with which the hosts gave themselves to this rivalry that made the difference.

After bowling India out for 186 runs, there should not have been any doubts as to the hosts’ chances of winning the match. However, Bangladesh lost 9 wickets and the match went to the 46th Over on their way to victory.

Again in the 2nd match, a 271-runs total batting first followed by reducing India to 4 for 64 had the match completely in Bangladesh's favour.

Yet, the game went right down to the wire with India needing 6 off the last ball and losing by 5 runs. Bangladesh were close to a loss there. Had Mustafizur not bowled a maiden over to Siraj, things would have been different.

Overall, it has not been a complete dominance from the hosts and they have struggled on their way to a series win. There are many issues with the batting and the bowlers, courtesy of the pitch, are able to put the opposition on the back foot.

Liton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmadullah, and Shakib are the key batters for Bangladesh. Ebadot Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Shakib Al Hasan will be the bowlers to watch out for.

India Preview

Both of these losses must have hurt India. Though one wouldn’t expect India to win after ending up with 186 runs batting first, Rohit’s men were on the brink of a win in that game.

Indian bowlers reduced Bangladesh from 128-4 to 136-9 in a matter of 5 overs. At this point, the opposition needed 51 runs to win with number 8 and 11 batsmen on the crease.

That should have been India’s game 9 out of 10 times. In the second game, India had Bangladesh at 69-6 after Liton Das won the toss and opted to bat first.

Once again, the bowlers failed to get through the tail and ended up conceding 201 runs for just 1 wicket in the 31 Overs from that point on. Shardul Thakur and Mohammad Siraj will be under scanner for their death overs bowling.

India will also be expecting better discipline from Umran Malik. India is clearly struggling in the bowling department without Shami, Bhuvi, and Bumrah. These are worrying signs for India’s future in ODIs just ahead of the World Cup.

On the batting front, the experience of Dhawan, Kohli, and Sharma didn’t help India’s cause on a challenging pitch in Dhaka. The final ODI of the series will be played in Chattogram where the pitch isn’t any different and the bowlers will have the upper hand.

KL Rahul will be expected to step up and deliver in the middle order. Shreyas Iyer has given India hope with his fighting knock in the last game in a pressure situation.

Weather Conditions

The pitch at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium offers great help for the spinners. Spinners have historically dominated at this venue. The weather will be partly cloudy with a high of 28 degrees Celsius.

Venue Details

Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram will be the venue for the 3rd and last ODI of the series. The average 1st innings score in ODIs at this venue is 215 runs.

Toss: To Bowl

Teams batting second have won 15 of the 23 ODIs played at this venue. Both teams have their bowlers in better form and will back them to give the team an upper hand in the game.

India have been dealt with 3 injuries and will miss Rohit, Chahar, and Sen in the 3rd ODI. As such, they will only play with 3 pacers in the lineup. Though spinners get help from the pitch at this venue, India will have a disadvantage coming into this game. Nevertheless, the hosts aren’t in great form either with their batting and it opens up many possibilities for the visitors. A strong comeback from India’s top order can turn things around. India, with their squad strength and experience, will start as favourites in our match prediction.

Our prediction is for India to win the match!
