There have been some surprises in both warm-up and Round 1 stage matches of the T20 World Cup 2022. Both of these teams are coming into this game on the back of such surprising encounters.

Bangladesh were bundled up for 98 runs while chasing a 161 runs target against Afghanistan. South Africa, on the other hand, bowled out NZ for just 98 runs and chased down the target in 11.2 overs.

Shakib Al Hasan has had a tough time personally dealing with many issues in his career. His form hasn’t been at its best either and if the recent performances are an indicator, it looks like a tough road ahead for Bangladesh.

Shakib has been one of the most impactful players for Bangladesh over the years. If he loses his touch, that would cost Bangladesh dearly. Soumya Sarkar has proven his big-hitting abilities in the domestic T20 tournaments.

He has been a key player for Bangladesh on the international stage. He is another key all-rounder who bats in the middle order and has a crucial role to play for his side.

Mustafizur Rahman might find help from the pitch here but his lack of pace will be a concern going ahead in the World Cup. He seems to rely too much on the back-of-the-hand deliveries to get a breakthrough.

T20 cricket has evolved a great deal and batters are no longer deceived by such deliveries. Bangladesh needs a pace bowler who can bowl consistent yorkers. Taskin Ahmed is one such bowler who grabbed a spot in the national side due to his pace. Bangladesh have packed many spinners in their squad. 

All of their all-rounders apart from the left-arm orthodox Shakib are off-break bowlers. Taskin Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud will lead the pace attack for Bangladesh.

The strength of Bangladesh's batting order lies in the top 4 with Soumya and Shakib being the key players. While there are some noteworthy names in the lower order, it doesn’t seem likely that they can get the side to a big total against the SA bowling attack.

The Proteas got just what they needed in their first warm-up match. A confidence booster. After losing the T20I and ODI series to India, they were in desperate need of something that gives them confidence and momentum before going into the Super 12 round.

Rilee Rossouw is a big positive for South Africa. And while Keshav Maharaj and Shamsi may not find a great deal of help from other batting-friendly tracks in Australia, their form is also key to Proteas’ success.

David Miller led the side in the warm-up game against New Zealand. Temba Bavuma sitting out on that one was a good sign. It would be better if he continues to sit out for this one too. The team needs to find out who their key players are and who’s making the biggest impact.

Klaasen might get another chance as South Africa takes on Bangladesh. The team management would like to see how good he can strike the ball currently to decide in future matches whether he can replace Bavuma or other out-of-form batters.

Wayne Parnell will be the key bowler to watch out for in this side. Along with Rabada, Ngidi, and Nortje, South Africa has a lethal bowling group that has great pace and accuracy. It will be an uphill battle for the Bangladesh batters to make a comeback from their recent collapse while facing a top-quality bowling attack from South Africa.
