Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in the 3rd and final ODI of the series in Chattogram. With the series levelled 1-1, this will be the decider match. Both teams have won only when chasing a target at this venue.
Sri Lanka were 3 down for 43 runs in the first 7 Overs while chasing 287 in the last match and it looked like Bangladesh were well in control of the game. But Pathum Nissanka and Charith Asalanka had other plans.
The two staged a comeback with a match-winning partnership for the 4th wicket. Bangladesh, who had bowled Sri Lanka out for 255 in the previous game have been impressive with the bat in both outings.
Their key batters are in good touch and will be crucial for a win in this match. It seems like the toss will play a key role given the pitch conditions at this venue. Both batters and bowlers have found help from the surface.
Sri Lanka will be confident after their recent win but need to address a few batting concerns as not many of their key players have been consistent.

The hosts missed out on a chance to seal the series in the second ODI. They were on top of the game as they reduced the visitors to 3 for 43 in the 1st powerplay. It took them another 30 Overs to find a breakthrough.
And that’s where the game slipped away from Bangladesh. Their fifth bowler, Taijul Islam failed to deliver with his left-arm orthodox bowling in both matches so far.
And while defending 286 he was quite expensive going for 43 runs in his 5 Overs. As a result, the skipper brought in Soumya Sarkar to bowl 4 Overs. This allowed the visitors to settle down and keep the scoreboard ticking.
Shoriful Islam and Taskin Ahmed will be the key pacers in this side but cannot be the only ones to lead the wicket-taking charts. They need others like Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam to step up and deliver breakthroughs.
Tanzim Hasan Shakib, who picked 3 wickets in the 1st ODI, is an inexperienced player. It looks like this Bangladesh team would have been much stronger with Shakib Al Hasan in the mix.
Liton Das is struggling with the bat big time. The good news is that Soumya Sarkar found his rhythm. And with skipper Shanto and Towhid Hridoy striking big in the middle-order, Bangladesh look sorted with the bat.
They’ve got plenty of experience lower down the order with Mahamdullah and Mushfiqur Rahim. Mehidy Hasan Miraz can also bat and score some quick runs at the death.

Sri Lanka will be taking a lot of confidence from that win in the 2nd ODI. However not all of their batting issues are solved given how only two of their batters managed to make any significant contributions in the run-chase.
Others like Kusal Mendis and Janith Liyanage who scored fifties in the last game, didn’t even get a good enough start. There is great potential in this batting lineup and the recent win can help others around Nissanka and Asalanka to find their rhythms and score big.
We expect Sri Lanka to continue their batting form with a few others also coming to the occasion. Their key spinner, Wanindu Hasaranga will be one to watch out for.
He picked 4 for 45 from 10 Overs and bowled a maiden in the last game. He sent Soumya Sarkar and Mahmadulla back to the hut in the same Over.
And when it seemed like a partnership was building, he was back into the attack and dismissed Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. These scalps were big and made a huge dent in Bangladesh’s innings.
Sri Lanka also have a couple of extra bowling options and can be quite threatening with the new ball and the spin bowling. However, what they need the most in this match will be their batting to flourish.
Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis, and Sadeera Samarawickrama are the ones who need to get going and deliver big. Mendis is an experienced match-winning batter who will be the key player at number 3.
Asalanka has shown time and again that he can be relied on in the lower-middle order. Two of the key pacers for Sri Lanka Pramod Madhushan and Lahiru Kumara haven’t found a lot of success so far. But they can move the ball and on their best day can pose a tough challenge.
Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis (c & wk), Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka, Janith Liyanage, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dunith Wellalage, Pramod Madushan, Lahiru Kumara, Dilshan Madushanka

It seems like a balanced pitch where both batters and bowlers have found a lot of help. Batters will need to be patient here. They will find it easy to play their strokes as the ball gets older. Spinners will also find help from the surface and will be crucial in both lineups.
Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram will be the venue for the 3rd ODI between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Though the average 1st innings score here in ODIs is 226 runs, the current conditions imply that a match-winning total should be something over 300 runs. If it wasn’t for Hasaranga, Bangladesh would have crossed the 300-run mark while batting first in the last match.
The team batting second has won both matches here so far. Sri Lanka opted to bowl and won the last game and they would probably continue doing the same in this match. Bangladesh have a deep batting lineup with experienced finishers and would be better off chasing a target.
Sri Lanka have shown great promise with their recent win as their batters staged a comeback and Hasaranga weaved his magic. However, Bangladesh are very strong in their home conditions and have managed to upset much stronger teams in the past. They’ve got a deep batting lineup and more experience. Overall, we reckon, Bangladesh has the upper hand going into this match and will start as favorites in our match prediction.
