Bangladesh To Win The Match!
Our prediction is Bangladesh to win!
Tournament: West Indies tour of Bangladesh 2018 | Format: One Day International | Venue: Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka | Toss: To Bat
Bet NowThe fortunes did not change for the West Indies team after the Tests as they were thrashed by Bangladesh in their first ODI. Bangladeshi bowlers were all over West Indies batting line-up restricting them to 195/9 in their quota of fifty overs. Then their batsmen lead by Keeper Mushfiqur Rahim`s Fifty achieved the target in 35.1 overs. Pacers Mortaza and Mustafizur were relentless with their line and lengths and conceded runs at a little over 3 RPO and picking up six wickets. Spinners Shakib and Mehdi too supported them and kept a lid on the run-rate. Rubel was the only bowler who leaked runs at the death. Liton Das, Shakib and Mushfiqur scored runs on a sluggish pitch and guided their team to victory. The batsmen were largely untested due to low target. Bangladesh would hope to continue their performance in their first match to take unbeatable lead 2-0 in the series.
West Indies had a horrid start to the ODI series by losing the match with around 15 overs remaining. Their batsmen barring Shai Hope at the top struggled to score runs freely. And it added the pressure on the middle order batsmen. Experienced batsmen Samuels and Darren Bravo must score more runs and at a quicker rate. Rovman Powell had a bad start to his captaincy and looked confused in the field with his changes. Roston Chase and Keemo Paul were good with the bat towards the end of innings scoring some quick runs. On the bowling front Keemo Paul, Oshane Thomas and Roston chase were impressive, but they were left with a too low total to make a match out of it. West Indies will be hoping their senior players like Samuels, Darren Bravo and bowlers Kemar Roach and Bishoo stand up with performances to guide their youngsters.
Bangladesh don’t want to make a change to their winning combination and play with the same XI. Rubel Hossain may get more chance owing to the importance of fast bowling in England in the next World Cup.
Key players:
Tamim Iqbal – Iqbal missed out in the first match but look to prove his abilities with a host of players like Sarkar, Kayes and Liton Das waiting for the opening slot.
Shakib Al Hasan – Shakib is a complete All-rounder who can change the context of match with both the ball and bat. He scored a quickfire 30 runs and eased the pressure on the target.
Mustafizur Rahman – Mustafizur was relentless with his variations and on a slow pitch he almost becomes unplayable. He would hope to continue his good form.
Recent Stats (This series):
Mushfiqur Rahim – 55 runs not out
Mashrafe Mortaza – 3 wickets at average of 10 and economy 3 RPO
Shakib Al Hasan – 30 runs at strike rate of 115 and 1/36 in his 10 overs.
Mashrafe Mortaza (C) , Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das, Imrul Kayes, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (Wk), Mahmudullah, Mustafizur Rahman, Mehdi Hasan Miraz, Rubel Hossain
Left arm Spinner Fabian Allen may get a nod ahead of Bishoo owing to his all-rounder prowess and no other changes are expected in their playing XI.
Key players:
Shimron Hetmyer – Hetmyer has been one of the new find for the West Indies. He would be itching to send a few biggies outside the park. An explosive knock from him can make a big difference in low scoring matches.
Roston Chase – Chase has become the most reliable all-rounder with bat and ball for West Indies. He was very impressive in both departments in the first match.
Oshane Thomas – Thomas has raw pace to trouble the best of the batsmen, but he misses his control a few times and leaks runs. Thomas can be a big asset if he can bowl at good line and lengths consistently.
Recent Stats (This series):
Rostan Chase – 32 runs at strike rate of 85 and 2/47 in his 9 overs
Keemo Paul – 36 runs at strike rate of 129 and 1/37 in his 8 overs
Rovman Powell (C) , Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope (Wk), Kieran Powell, Darren Bravo, Marlon Samuels, Roston Chase, Keemo Paul, Devandra Bishoo/ Fabien Allen, Kemar Roach, Oshane Thomas
The match is scheduled to start at local time 12.30 PM local time. The pitch is not expected to change from the first ODI. The pitch is very sluggish and run scoring is not easy unless the batsmen settle down. The weather at Dhaka is bright and sunny with no rains expected on the match day. The scores around 250-270 runs will be a good target.
Both the teams would want to set a target for the opposition in this ground. And Chasing is not easy due to slow nature of pitch and batting under lights.
Bangladesh to win the match!
Bangladesh side is looking formidable with the likes of Tamim, Shakib, Rahim, Mustafizur and Mortaza in their prime form and are ably supported by Liton das and Mehdi Hasan. West Indies are hoping for a miracle to happen and needs to stand up as team rather than one-off individual performances.
