It is the 5th game in the Desert Cup T20I Series 2022, and Saudi Arabia needs to strike form as they take on Bahrain. Saudi Arabia comes into this game with another loss as they went down against Canada. Bahrain returned to form and won against Oman, which will make the side confident.

Saudi Arabia has lost both games by big margins and is short of confidence. Their batsmen score runs at a poor strike rate adding to the side's problems. Bahrain defeated the strongest side in the last game, and they would look to continue with the same momentum. It remains to be seen if Saudi Arabia can surprise their fans with a win here.

Bahrain Preview

Sarfaraz Ali's side defeated hosts Oman by 6 wickets in the last game. It was a confident show from the players as they went about their business clinically. Their batting lineup looks good, and the bowlers made a comeback after a poor show against Canada. Ali would like to continue with the same momentum and exploit Saudi Arabia's weaknesses in this game.

Ahmed Nazar and Sarfaraz Ali shall look to set up a solid opening wicket stand in this game. David Mathias will have to anchor the innings in the middle order and build partnerships with Sohail Ahmed and Haider Butt. Sathaiya Veerapathiran and Shahid Mahmood are good hitters, making the batting lineup formidable.

Rizwan Butt and Shahid Mahmood bowled good spells in the last game and will like to trouble Saudi batsmen. Imran Khan’s four wickets in the last game shall add to his confidence here, and he needs to bowl well in the middle overs with David Matias and  Sathaiya Veerapathiran. Sachin Kumar and Sarfaraz Ali add to the team’s bowling options.

Bahrain Predicted Playing XI:

Sarfaraz Ali (c), Ahmed Nasir (wk), David Mathias, Sohail Ahmed, Haider Butt, Sathaiya Veerapathiran, Shahid Mahmood, Sachin Kumar, Rizwan Butt, Imran Khan, Danish Jasnaik

Saudi Arabia Preview

Abdul Waheed's side is in deep trouble. They have lost both the games they have played and have failed to compete. A poor bowling performance in the last game against Canada saw the side lose by 66 runs. They must pull up their socks and win this game to improve their position on the points table.

Openers Faisal Khan and Abdul Waheed haven't scored runs yet. They need to deliver the goods here for the side to be in a comfortable position. The middle order hasn't fared any better, and Kashif Siddique, Haseeb Ghafoor, and Saad Khan need to build partnerships in this game. The side would also expect runs from Hisham Sheikh and Irshad Mubbashar.

Their bowlers have proved ineffective in both games, and the side shall expect good spells from Zain Ul Abidin and Atif-Ur-Rehman. Usman Najeeb did well in the last game and expects support from Muhammad Saqib and Hisham Sheikh. Faisal Khan must deliver in the supporting role as Bahrain has a strong batting lineup.

Saudi Arabia Predicted Playing XI:

Abdul Waheed (c), Faisal Khan, Kashif Siddique, Saad Khan, Haseeb Ghafoor (wk), Hisham Sheikh, Irshad Mubbashar, Zain Ul Abidin, Usman Najeeb, Atif-Ur-Rehman, Muhammad Saqib

Weather Conditions

The skies over Al Amerat shall be clear on November 16. We have had good batting conditions where batsmen have played their strikes easily. We expect the conditions to remain the same in the next game. The side batting first shall need 170 on the board to feel safe.

Venue Details

Al Amerat Cricket Ground has a flat surface and is one of the best venues for batting. Big scores are made and chased on this fast outfield that allows batsmen to score runs in boundaries. Fast bowlers don't have much on this wicket, as the bounce is low. Spinners have done well, as the ball can turn sharply.

Toss: To Bowl

The wicket has been great to bat on, and we have already seen high-scoring games. Setting up totals on such wickets is always a challenge. Teams have won more games chasing the score at this venue. Hence, the side winning the toss shall not hesitate to bowl first in this game.

Saudia Arabia has looked like a no-match for their opponents in the two games they have played. Their batsmen are in poor form, and this would affect their confidence in the camp. Bahrain comes here with a convincing win, with more experienced players. It makes them favorites to win this contest.
