It is the 7th game of the Women’s Big Bash League 2021 and Brisbane Heat Women would be up against Perth Scorchers Women. It is expected to be a cracker of a contest after the two sides were involved in a tied game earlier. Both sides showed their struggles with the bat but did well with the ball. All these would make it a perfect recipe for a tight contest that is expected to go down the wire.

Brisbane Heat Women have dominated the Perth Scorchers Women in the past winning six out of the last eight games between the two sides. It is early days in the tournament and the two sides would put in all they have in this game. Given Brisbane’s record in the past and Perth’s momentum, we expect this to be a very interesting game.

Brisbane Heat Women Preview

Jess Jonassen would be extremely upset with her side’s performance in the last tied game against Perth Scorchers Women where they lost in the Super Over. Their batters had a meltdown towards the end leading to the tied contest. As they take on the same side again Jonassen would like to put up a better show here.

Georgia Redmayne and Grace Harris had looked good in the last game opening the batting and a similar show would be expected from them. It is the middle order comprising Jess Jonassen, Georgia Voll, and Anne Bosch who must occupy the crease after they failed to convert their starts in the last game. Laura Kimmince and Nadine de Klerk have a good range of strokes and they would look to do well in this game.

Their bowling attack did a fine job in the last game and a good start would be expected from Nicola Hancock and Jonassen in this game. Nadine de Klerk was expensive, and she would look to bowl better lines here. With Poonam Yadav, Georgia Prestwidge, and Harris in the attack the side has good variety and shall look to make use of it here.

Brisbane Heat Women Predicted Playing XI:

Jess Jonassen (c), Georgia Redmayne (wk), Grace Harris, Georgia Voll, Anne Bosch, Laura Kimmince, Mikayla Hinkley, Nadine de Klerk, Georgia Prestwidge, Nicola Hancock, Poonam Yadav

Perth Scorchers Women Preview

Sophie Devine would be proud of the way her side held the nerves in the final moments of the last game to earn their first points for the season. The side batted poorly but did well with the ball to tie the game and winning it finally in the Super Over. Having gained the psychological edge, the side would look for a better show here.

Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney looked in good form and the side would need a good show from them at the top. In the middle order, the side would like to see runs from the bat of Chamari Athapaththu, Marizanne Kapp, and Heather Graham in this game after their failure in the previous contest. In Alana King and Chloe Piparo they have batters who can strike the ball far.

Kapp was brilliant with the new ball in the last game, and she would be expecting good support from the likes of Taneale Peschel and Sophie Devine in this game. In Alana King and Lilly Mills the side has two bowlers high on confidence right now. They would also be expecting a good show from Heather Graham and Samantha Betts in this game.

Perth Scorchers Women Predicted Playing XI:

Sophie Devine (c), Beth Mooney (wk), Chamari Athapaththu, Chloe Piparo, Heather Graham, Marizanne Kapp, Mathilda Carmichael, Alana King, Lilly Mills, Taneale Peschel, Samantha Betts

Weather Conditions

There are predictions of cloudy skies over Hobart on October 19, and we might have disruptions due to rain. The batting conditions are likely to be difficult here during the game as fast bowlers would get the ball to move. The side batting first in this game would be happy to have 160 runs on the board in these conditions.

Venue Details

Bellerive Oval, Hobart has a small ground where the short square boundaries allow batters to score lots of runs. The flat wicket and the fast outfield also aid them. Fast bowlers get early movement and have done well with the new ball. However, this is a tough venue for the spinners who have struggled here in the past.

Toss: To Bowl

The weather conditions are likely to have a bearing on the toss. Though the sides have preferred to bat first here in the past we might see a rain-curtailed game where the side chasing the score would have an advantage. Hence, the side winning the toss in this game would have little hesitation in bowling first.

Going by the result of the last game there is little to choose between the two sides. They both did well in the tied game. Perth Scorchers Women have weakness in their batting especially in the middle order and they would have to fix it here. On the other hand, Brisbane Heat Women is likely to fight it hard here. They have had a good record against Scorchers in the past and this would put them nose ahead in this game.
