Baroda will be back at Dadoji Kondev Stadium in Thane to play their 3rd match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023. After failing with the bat in two back-to-back matches, Krunal Pandya will be hoping for a comeback against Nagaland.

The lower order has stepped up and delivered for Baroda on both occasions to take the score beyond the 200-run mark. But Nagaland have no one to look up to in their lineup.

Sumit Kumar is the only batter in the top 4 of Nagaland’s lineup to have scored 30+ runs in the last games. The top 3 have failed big time and this poor run of form will be their biggest concern coming into this match.

Baroda dropped Krunal Pandya from the XI in the last game. Soyeb Sopariya who replaced Pandya was wicketless but very economical in his spell. 

Atit Seth and Abhimanyu Singh picked 3 wickets each but most others were quite expensive and also wicketless which allowed Bengal to cross the 300-run mark batting first.

It will never be easy to chase such a target after the kind of start Bardoa got in their Round 1 match. They opted to bowl at Brabourne which is not a bad idea but they need their batters on their best day to win.

Now coming back to Dadoji Kondev Stadium, Baroda will be hoping to see the openers find their form and deliver a good start. They should be confident of putting on a competitive score against Nagaland.

Joshua Ozukum and Sedezhalie Rupero haven’t looked promising as openers while skipper and number 3 batsman Jonathan R is yet to score double-digits. 

Wicket-keeper batsman Sumit Kumar is the only batter in this side who’s looked promising and if he gets the support from the other end, could possibly build an impactful partnership.

But as of now, it looks bleak for Nagaland with no promising match-winners in the team.
