Canada would be eying its fourth win as they take on Saudi Arabia in the 9th game of the Desert Cup T20I Series 2022. Canada suffered its first loss of the season in the last game as it went down against Bahrain. Saudi Arabia has been in poor form, and they failed to challenge Oman in their previous game, suffering another loss.

Saudi Arabia has lost all four games the side has played. Their batters have struggled to score runs at a rate this format of the game demands. Canada's batsmen have been in excellent form and posted big totals on the board. It will be interesting to see if Saudi Arabia can win this game against the run of play.

Canada Preview

Saad Bin Zafar's side suffered its first loss of this tournament in the last game. Their bowling attack, which hasn't been in the best shape, failed to defend a big total against Bahrain losing the game by 8 wickets. Bin Zafar shall look to put this loss behind them and come up with a good show. His opponents have struggled, and the Canadian skipper shall look to take advantage of it.

Aaron Johnson has done well, and the side would need him to deliver a good start along with  Srimantha Wijeratne. In the middle order, Pargat Singh looks in good form, and he must add runs in the company of Matthew Spoors and Harsh Thaker. Saad Bin Zafar, Ravinderpal Singh, and Dillon Heyliger add to the side's depth in the batting order.

The bowling attack hasn't fared well in most of the games. The side would need tight spells with the new ball from Kaleem Sana and Ammar Khalid. The rest of the attack has leaked runs and needs to improve here. Heyliger, Bin Zafar, and Nikhil Dutta would like to regain their form with the ball in this contest.

Canada Predicted Playing XI:

Saad Bin Zafar (c), Aaron Johnson, Srimantha Wijeratne (wk), Matthew Spoors, Pargat Singh, Harsh Thaker, Ravinderpal Singh, Dillon Heyliger, Ammar Khalid, Nikhil Dutta, Kaleem Sana

Saudi Arabia Preview

Abdul Waheed's side has been no match for the other teams in the tournament. They suffered their fourth consecutive loss in the last game going down by 7 wickets against Oman. Batsmen have struggled with the strike rate and haven't scored the required runs on a good track. Waheed would hope for better results in this game.

Openers Faisal Khan and Saad Khan must deliver a good start, as this has been one of the biggest concerns for the team. Abdul Waheed needs to bring his experience to play and score runs in the middle order with Kashif Siddique and Imran Sarfaraz. In the lower middle order, Irshad Mubbashar and Haseeb Ghafoor will need to contribute to a win.

The bowling attack faces a tough challenge in the game as the Canadians have the strongest batting line-up of all teams. Irfan Sarfaraz and Atif-Ur-Rehman shall have to bowl good lines in this game. The side would also expect tight bowling in the middle overs from Muhammad Saqib, Hisham Sheikh, and Imran Yousaf.

Saudi Arabia Predicted Playing XI:

Abdul Waheed (c), Faisal Khan, Saad Khan, Kashif Siddique, Irfan Sarfaraz, Irshad Mubbashar, Haseeb Ghafoor (wk), Hisham Sheikh, Imran Yousaf, Atif Ur Rehman, Muhammad Saqib

Weather Conditions

We shall see clear skies in Al Amerat, and the batting conditions shall be excellent. The wicket is flat, allowing batsmen to score runs at will. There isn't much on this track for the bowlers and hence the side batting first in this game shall need 170 runs on the board to feel safe.

Venue Details

Al Amerat Cricket Ground has a flat surface. Big scores have been the form here as the fast outfield allows batsmen to score runs in boundaries. Fast bowlers haven't enjoyed much success at this venue. Spinners have done well, as the wicket is dry, and it allows them to turn the ball sharply.

Toss: To Bowl

Like most other wickets in this part of the world, defending totals is very challenging on this surface. Batsmen can hit through the line and score runs quickly on this track. The side winning the toss shall have no hesitation in bowling first on this surface.

Saudia Arabia has gone from one loss to another. Their batsmen have found scoring runs tough in this tournament. It will take a good show of strength from the side to come up with a win. Canada has ticked all boxes, and the side would like an improvements from its bowlers in the game. Their batting line-up is in good form. It will make them favorites to win this game.
