Chattogram Challengers got off to a losing start in the Chattogram-leg of the Bangladesh Premier League. They lost by 26 runs to Fortune Barishal while chasing a target of 203 runs.

Shuvagata Hom will be expecting his team to maintain consistency as they progress in the league. Usman Khan has been a great find for the Challengers in the top order.

Dhaka Dominators, on the other hand, are coming into this game on the back of a disappointing loss in Dhaka. Nasir Hossain’s Dominators were bowled out for just 139 runs while chasing 202 runs.

This performance came just after Dhaka had restricted Khulna Tigers to 113-8 in the previous match. Though the bowling may not seem consistent, the batting has failed on both occasions.

Dhaka desperately need their key batters in the top order to bounce back. Ahmed Shehzad and Soumya Sarkar will be expected to deliver while Nasir Hossain and Mohammad Mithun will look to carry their form.

Though Abu Jayed picked 3 wickets in the last game, taking his tally to 5 from 2 innings, he was pretty expensive. He is nevertheless a crucial part of the Chattogram bowling attack and will be one to watch out for as the hosts take on an inconsistent Dhaka.

Shuvagata Hom bowled a brilliant spell in their win over Khulna Tigers picking up a wicket for 15 runs in 3 Overs. Ziaur Rahman and V Viyaskanth are other key bowlers in this setup. Skipper Hom doesn’t enjoy much variety in the bowling attack. 

And hence, most of his key bowlers must come good if the Challengers are to get back to winning ways.

In the batting department, Usman Khan and Max O'Dowd are the impact batters in the top order. Unmukt Chand who was sent in at number 3 in the last game was a big disappointment. 

Khan is a promising top-order batsman and will be one to watch out for in this game as well. All-rounders Ziaur Rahman and Afif Hossain add strength in the middle order and will be responsible for finishing the innings for the team.

It is the lower order and the finisher’s job where Chattogram Challengers seem to lack power. They don’t seem to have any expert for the finisher’s role lower down the order.

After the bowlers dominated their opening game against Khulna Tigers, Dhaka Dominators were on the back foot in the very next game.

Skipper Nasir Hossain opted to bowl first probably hoping that the bowlers would continue their good run. However, they ended up conceding a mammoth 201 runs with 4 of their bowlers going for more than 10 runs an over.

The batting performance fell short of what was required in such a run chase. Though Mithun and Nasir Hossain led the fight with a 77 runs partnership for the 4th wicket, Dhaka eventually bundled up for just 139 runs.

The top order has failed in both innings so far and Hossain will expect Ahmed Shahzad and Soumya Sarkar to make a comeback in this game. Munaweera is struggling to convert his starts and hasn’t looked comfortable on the crease for the most part. 

Though they’ve got Usman Ghani and Ariful Haque in the lower middle order, the finishing tasks seem to rest with Nasir Hossain and Mohammad Mithun. Dominators have a similar issue with their batting lineup in the lower order. 

Overall, it’s worse than the issues facing Chattogram as the top 3 batters in the Dhaka lineup haven’t yet made a mark. The bowling attack has great variety and that is the biggest positive for Hossain coming into this match.

Arafat Sunny, Al-Amin, and Taskin Ahmed will lead the bowling attack and will be supported by the skipper himself. Muktar Ali and Soumya Sarkar are other bowling options Hossain can try and get the most out of.
