The Chattogram Challengers have their backs against the wall as they take on Minister Group Dhaka in the 23rd game of the Bangladesh Premier League 2022. The Challengers went down against Comilla Victorians by a big margin in the last game while Minister Group Dhaka’s game against the Victorians was washed away by rain.  

After a good start, the Chattogram Challengers have lost their way in the tournament. The side has managed to win only once in the last five games and they would be down on confidence. Minister Group Dhaka are in a better frame of mind and they would aim to secure their position for the playoffs with a win here.

It has been three losses in a row for Naeem Islam’s team and they have moved to fifth place on the points table. It was a poor show from the side in the last game against the Comilla Victorians where they went down by 9 wickets under the DLS method. They had defeated Minister Group Dhaka earlier and Islam would like his players to draw inspiration from that win. 

Will Jacks has been in good form and the side would need runs from him and Chadwick Walton at the top. Shamim Hossain and Afif Hossain need to push the scoring rate in the middle order as they are scoring at a poor strike rate. The side has good hitters of the ball in Islam, Benny Howell, and Mehidy Hasan and quick runs would be expected from them. 

Their bowling attack proved ineffective in the last game and the side would hope to see early wickets from Nasum Ahmed and Shoriful Islam at the start. Mehidy Hasan hasn’t been at his best and he would have an important role to play in the middle order with Howell and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury.

Minster Group Dhaka Preview

Mahmudullah’s side saw its last game against the Comilla Victorians being washed away by rain. The side had won two games before it and has gained good form. Mahmudullah would look to put up a good show here having lost against the Challengers earlier in the season. A win here would take them a step closer to the playoffs. 

They have a strong opening combination in Tamim Iqbal and Mohammad Shahzad and a good start would be expected from them. Imran Uzzaman, Mahmudullah, and Suvahata Hom have to build partnerships in the middle order. With Andre Russell and Mohammad Naim down the order, the side has good firepower with the bat.  

Mashrafe Mortaza would have to lead the attack with his experience and get early wickets sharing the new ball with Rubel Hossain. Ebadot Hossain and Qais Ahmed would enjoy these conditions and look to make the most out of the occasion. Mahmudullah and Russell bring in experience to the attack and a good show would be expected from them.
