Rangpur aims to make amends for early loss!
Rangpur Rangers to win this game!
Chattogram Challengers will be taking on Rangpur Rangers in match number seven in this Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Both teams are going into this game with a loss in their last game.
Chattogram started the season with a win but lost comprehensively against Khulna Tigers. Meanwhile, Rangpur was thrashed (against Comilla Warriors) in the only game they’ve played so far.
In the two games they’ve played, the batting has struggled a bit as far as the Chattogram Challengers are concerned. They chased down 163 with an over to spare before they scored just 144 in the second game. The bowling got smashed as they conceded 145 in less than 14 overs.
Meanwhile, it was a day to forget for Rangpur Rangers and brush it aside as an aberration. They were bowled out for a mere 68 chasing 174. Some poor death bowling cost the Rangers as they conceded as many as 49 runs in the last two overs to concede the advantage
After the win in the first game, the Chattogram Challengers brought in the West Indies duo of Lendl Simmons and Kesrick Williams for the second game but it didn’t have a big impact. They had played a T20I only a day before and they got on to the park straight off the plane. However, the experienced duo will be crucial for the Challengers going forward.
Chadwick Walton has looked good in the two games and has been striking the ball well. Along with Simmons, he will be looking to give the team a solid start. The premier Bangladesh batsman in this squad, Imrul Kayes took them over the line in the first game with a 38-ball 61.
Rubel Hossain has been the team’s best bowler as he’s picked up two wickets in as many games. But he has also been expensive, just like the rest of the attack which consists of Enamul Haque, Muktar Ali and Williams. This bowling attack looks thin on paper and will need to pull up their socks early in the tournament.

Rangpur Rangers have played one game and they failed miserably with the bat. Mohammad Naim was the highest scorer as he made 17 while there were only other two batsmen that registered double figures. It will be better if the entire batting line-up brushes this performance aside. Naim and Mohammad Shahzad make a good opening combination. They can take the game away from the opposition and give the team a flying start.
The presence of Mohammad Nabi who can contribute with both bat and ball makes a big difference. Lewis Gregory can do the same and has a decent T20 record.
It’s the bowling that makes Rangpur Rangers stand out. The pace-attack consists of Taskin Ahmed, Junaid Khan and Mustafizur Rahman and they all can be wicket-takers. They can create an impact with the addition of Lewis Gregory who can complement them well. Nabi will be the lead spinner along with Sanjit Saha.

It is going to be bright and sunny throughout the day. The highest temperature for the day will be around 280 with humidity ranging around 45-50%. The pitch will be a decent one to bat on but it will be on the slower side and the par score will be around 155-160.
Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka is one of the most popular and top cricket stadiums in the country. It is a regular international venue as well. In the first couple of games, teams scored 160+ batting first while the sides batting first could make only 134 and 144 in the next two games.
Barring one, all the other teams have opted to bowl first. Comilla Warriors have been the only team to have batted first after winning the toss and also won. Thus, it most likely that the captain winning the toss will opt to field first. The uncertain pitch also plays a part.
After having been bowled out for 68, most people might not back Rangpur Rangers to win the next one. However, they’ve got the team to turn it around. Even in the first game, they had Comilla Warriors at 124/7 before Dasun Shanaka took it away from them.
However, this time around they might not make the same mistakes. Rangpur Rangers will go in as favorites and will be looking to get off the mark in this season.
