The business end of the Bangladesh Premier League 2019 is all set to begin with the Eliminator game where Dhaka Dynamites would be playing Chittagong Vikings. It is a must-win game for both the sides as the loser would need to pack their bags. The sides haven’t been in the best of form for the last few games which would make them well-matched at least on paper going into the next game. 

Chittagong Vikings had won both their league games against the Dhaka Dynamites which will give the side lot of confidence going into this game. It will be interesting to see if the Dynamites are able to turn this one around or the Vikings maintain a clean record against them in this season.

Chittagong Vikings Preview

Their performance over the last week or so has been anything but pleasing as the side has lost the last four out of five games. In a do or die game Mushfiqur Rahim would want his side to bring out their best game and win it. 

Vikings put up a horrible chase with the bat against Sylhet Sixers in the last game. Their openers Mohammad Ashraful and Cameron Delport didn't trouble the scorers much. The middle order however looked in good form with Yasir Ali, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mosaddek Hossain batting well. They have Sikanar Raza and Dasun Shanaka towards the end which makes the batting look good. 

The bowling unit is struggling for the last few games and have let the side down. Hardus Viljoen and Khaled Ahmed bowled well in the last game and so did Nayeem Hasan. But Abu Jayed leaked too many runs and as the main bowler for the side he would have to take up more responsibility in the next game against Dhaka Dynamites.

Dhaka Dynamites Preview

The last win against Khulna Titans earned Dhaka Dynamites a place in the playoffs. The fact that it has come after five consecutive defeats would definitely make the win special. But they have a big task at hand in the next game and would like to win this and play the Qualifier. 

Upul Tharanga and Sunil Narine make a very formadible opening pair and they played brilliantly in the last game. The season hasn't been great for Shakib Al Hasan by his own standards and Mizanur Rahman too failed in the last game. But they have a great lower order in form of Nurul Hasan, Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell.

Finally the Dhaka Dynamites bowlers bowled with some grit and determination. Andre Russell bowled a good economical spell and so did Sunil Narine. Rubel Hossain also did well to pick up two wickets. Bit Shakib Al Hasan is finding it difficult with the ball this season. The problem with the Dhaka bowlers has been their consistency this season and they can't afford sloppy bowling in the next game.

Weather Conditions

The weather is expected to be slightly overcast in the afternoon in Dhaka on 4th of February. Fast bowlers would be looking to exploit these conditions. The pitch has looked good and hence there shouldn’t be much problems batting. It is the end of a long season and the pitch might just be little lower than what we have seen so far in the competition.

VENUE

Shere Bangla National Stadium has witnessed several high scoring encounters this season especially in the afternoon games. It is an ideal venue for T20 cricket with shorter boundaries and a true pitch that allows batsmen to hit through the line. Fast bowlers also get good bargain from the pitch and spinners who are willing to toss the ball up do well.

Toss: To Bat

Sides have preferred to set scores on this track this season. It will be a crunch game for both the sides and given the fact that it is an afternoon game the side winning the toss would want to bat first. Dew isn’t going to be much of a factor here and setting score on the board would be the most logical thing to do.
