It has been another disastrous season for the Sylhet Sixers and when they meet Chittagong Vikings in the 40th game of BPL 2019 it won’t be an easy task.

The Sixers who are out of the playoff contention would want to finish the season on a high with a win. Vikings who are running on full steam at the moment and have already earned their place in the playoffs would wish to finish their league stage with a good win. 

Sylhet Sixers had defeated the Chittagong Vikings in the earlier game of the season and it would be interesting to see if they are able to win once again or the Vikings avenge that loss in the next game.

Chittagong Vikings Preview

Mushfiqur Rahim’s team is in great frame of mind having won their last game against the Dhaka Dynamites. They would want to use the opportunity in the next game to settle things before the playoffs start. 

They have been riding on strong batting performances. Mohammad Shahzad has looked in great form this season and so has Cameron Delport who played that match winning knock in the last game. In Yasir Ali and Mushfiqur Rahim they have a great middle order. Sikandar Raza and Dasun Shanaka complete a good batting line-up and they would count on their chances in the next game. 

Their bowlers did well in the last game especially to defend that score. Abu Jayed was brilliant and Dasun Shanaka also picked up wickets at the most crucial juncture. Khaled Ahmed has been good form in the season and so has Cameron Delport. This makes them a pretty strong bowling line-up which will pose a stiff challenge for the Sylhet Sixers.

Sylhet Sixers Preview

The last loss against Rajshahi Kings would have hurt the side as they failed to defend a huge score. This has been the story for the side this season and they would want to avoid this in the next game.  

Sylhet Sixers batting is looking extremely strong. They have been putting up huge scores on the board for the last few games. In the last game Sabbir Rahman and Nicholas Pooran played well and took the opposition bowlers to the cleaners. This after Afif Hossain and Jason Roy had laid a strong platform though they missed out converting their starts. Liton Das has also looked good earlier in the season and the batsmen would want to carry this form to the next game. 

The bowlers have struggled in the season and failed to defend big scores. The story was the same in the last game where everybody went for runs. Sohail Tanvir in spite of his two wickets leaked runs. Taskin Ahmed bowled all over the place. The same with the story with skipper Alok Kapali and Mohammad Nawaz and they would need to tighten the flow of runs in the next game to win it.

Weather Conditions

It is expected to be warm evening in Dhaka and there would be some dew during the second innings. The pitch has already seen several high scoring games with batting fire power on both the sides we might just be in for a run feast. The spinners would find it slightly difficult to bowl in the second innings. 

Venue

Shere Bangla National Stadium has a reputation for being a great wicket to bat on and batsmen relish scoring runs here. The square boundaries are shorter and this makes it a great venue of hitting through the line. The fast bowlers have something in for them in the initial overs while the spinners too get good bargain it dew doesn’t affect their bowling. 

Toss: To Bowl

We have already seen how the evening dew makes it miserable for the bowlers in the second innings. Without a big score on the board it becomes nearly impossible once the ball get wet in the outfield. The team winning the toss would definitely want to take advantage of this and bowl first on this track.
