The Jaffna Kings come here with another convincing win against the Dambulla Giants while the Colombo Stars grabbed the game from the jaws of defeat against the Kandy Warriors. 

The Jaffna Kings would be confident coming into this contest with five consecutive wins. Their batsmen have looked in good form and the bowlers have delivered under pressure. It has been consecutive wins for Angelo Matthew’s side, and they come here with a thrilling 5-wicket win against the Kandy Warriors. Matthews’ return has reignited spirits in the camp, and he would look to lead the side from the front. It would be a tough battle against the Jaffna Kings and the Stars’ skipper would like to see his side put their best foot forward.

Matthews look slightly rusty in the last game, and he would aim to deliver a strong start opening the batting with Pathum Nissanka in this game. Ashan Priyanjan, Thikshila de Silva, and Sherfane Rutherford would look to add runs in the middle. The side would also expect runs from Dinesh Chandimal and Seekkuge Prasanna whose 30 of 6 balls snatched a win from the jaws of defeat. 

Ashan Priyanjan and Seekkuge Prasanna showed good form with the new ball in the last game, and they would have to strike early considering Jaffna’s batting form.  Naveen-ul-Haq and Dushmantha Chameera would need to bowl tight spells in the middle overs for the side to win here. The team would also need Ravi Rampaul to make use of his experience in this game.

There seems to be no stopping for Thisara Perera’s side. They have won the last five games and booked a berth in the playoffs. It was a convincing win for the side against the Dambulla Giants where they restricted the opponents to 69 runs and chased the target with 7 wickets in hand. Perera would look for a win in this game and build momentum ahead of the next round. 

The opening pair of Upul Tharanga and Avishka Fernando hasn’t been in the best of form and the side would look for a positive show from them. The middle order is strong for the side with Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Ashen Bandara, and Shoaib Malik having played well. In Perara, Chaturanga de Silva, and Wanindu Hasaranga they have big hitters of the ball and this would add to the side’s confidence in this game. 

On the bowling front, Maheesh Theekshana and Hasaranga have shown good form so far and they would look to strike early in this game. Chaturanga de Silva was brilliant in the last game and he would aim to carry this momentum into the next game. In Malik and Bandara the side has good support bowlers and they would aim to make it tough for the Colombo Stars to score runs.

R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo is one of the best grounds for batsmen in the world. The flat wicket and the fast outfield allow them to score runs easily on this surface.  Spinners have enjoyed a good record here in the past and overcast conditions do offer some assistance for the fast bowlers who have otherwise struggled at this venue.
