Dolphins to win
Our Prediction is for Dolphins to win this game!
Tournament: Momentum One Day Cup | Format: One Day Cricket | Venue: Boland Park, Paarl | Toss: To Bowl
Bet NowBoland Park, Paarl will be hosting the 8th game of the Momentum One Day Cup 2019 where Dolphins who are the table toppers at the moment would take on Cape Cobras who made a great come back in the last game after losing their opening encounter of the season.
The Dolphins have been on song with the key players in the side having had put up a great show in the season. Dolphins have an impressive record against the Cape Cobras over the last two seasons and go into this game with four consecutive games against them and we shall wait and see if Cape Cobras are able to halt that winning momentum.
Dane Piedt would have surely been pleased with the performance his boys came up with in the last game against Knights after they had lost their opening game against the Warriors. Most of the problems have been sorted and the side would now look forward to the next game.
Kyle Verreynne is in great form and has scored nearly 200 runs in two games so far. Pieter Malan and Janneman Malan did well in the first game though they missed out in the last game. Jason Smith and Aviwe Mgijima also look to be in good form at the moment. The Cobras have the batting firepower and if they get good start from their openers they would do well in the next game.
The bowlers have bowled well so far in the season with Piedt bowling very economically. Dane Paterson and Akhona Mnyaka have also done well in the series and George Linde was brilliant in the last game. The skipper would want these players to continue with the same form going into the next game.
Dane Piedt (c), Jason Smith, Dane Paterson, George Linde, Zubayr Hamza, Kyle Verreynne (wk), Tladi Bokako, Pieter Malan, Akhona Mnyaka, Janneman Malan, JP Duminy.
Two wins in two games, Dolphins'captain Khaya Zondo couldn’t have asked for a better start from in this season. They have looked like a well-oiled machine where players have complemented one another to secure victories for the side.
The side has an extremely strong batting line-up. Opener Vaughn van Jaarsveld looks in great form having already made a hundred this season. Morne van Wyk also looks in good touch. The middle order is very strong for the side where Dane Vilas and David Miller have done well. In Robbie Frylinck they have a great finisher and this will give then the edge going into the next game.
The bowlers have gone for runs and this is the only weakness in the side. Robbie Frylinck has done well and so has Prenelan Subrayen. But the form of Imran Tahir is a bit of worry for the side. Having Senuran Muthusamy in the side adds variety to the attack something they would look to capitalize on.
Morne van Wyk, Vaughn van Jaarsveld, David Miller, Imran Tahir, Robbie Frylinck, Dane Vilas (wk), Prenelan Subrayen, Andile Phehlukwayo, Keshav Maharaj, Mthokozisi Shezi, Khaya Zondo (c).
There is forecast for rain at Paarl on 22nd February 2019 and the atmosphere is expected to be on the heavier side during the next game. Coupled with the fast paced wicket there the fast bowlers on both the sides would enjoy bowling at this track. The team batting first should eye a score in the range of 270-280 runs in the game.
The wicket at Boland Park, Paarl has in the past assisted the fast bowlers with the green grass cover. But being a small ground it is easy for batsmen to clear the fence which is something the big hitters would relish. Fast bowlers willing to pitch the ball up have got good rewards from the wicket in the past.
There are predictions for rain and given that the wicket would be slightly damp given that it has rained in the last few days the side winning the toss in most likelihood would like to have a bowl at this wicket. The side chasing also has an advantage if the game is shortened due to rain interruptions.
Dolphins have looked the best side of the season so far and have won their previous games quite convincingly. Cape Cobras on the other hand made a strong comeback in the last game after losing their season opener.
However the side has a bad record against the Dolphins. Taking all these into consideration we feel that the punters around the world should be betting for Dolphins to win the next game!
