In the 10th match of the season at Recreation Ground, Oudtshoorn Cape Cobras will take in Lions. The season hasn’t been great for Lions who have had to bear with two of their games being washed away.

Cape Cobras on the other hand have looked little scratchy losing two of their three games despite the fact that they would have easily won both the games. Cape Cobras had defeated Lions in both the games last season and boast of a better balanced unit going into this game. Dane Piedt won’t be a happy man after the kind of performance his side put up against the Dolphins. They looked set for a win and threw way the game while chasing. With just one win in three games the team has pressure upon itself. 

Kyle Verreynne is looking in great form having already made a hundred and two fifties in three games. Pieter Malan and Janneman Malan their openers are also in good form with the bat. With a strong middle order that includes Zubayr Hamza, George Linde, Jason Smith and Aviwe Mgijima they would count their chances in the game. 

The bowlers did well in the last game with Dane Paterson standing out with his economical spell. Dane Piedt has also looked in good form this season and if bowlers like Akhona Mnyaka, Tladi Bokako and Linde do well the team would definitely have the edge.

Kagiso Rapulana’s side hasn’t had it easy this season. They lost the first game against Dolphins while the next two games against Warriors and Knights had been washed out which has out lot of pressure on the side. 

In their first game the batting looked solid for the side.  Reeza Hendricks did well to score a hundred and Wiaan Mulder also chipped in with some runs. The batting line-up is strong with guys like Kagiso Rapulana and Ryan Rickelton having the ability to hit the ball out of the park which will come in handy in a small ground in the upcoming game. 

In the rain interrupted game against the Warriors the bowlers did well after being hammered in their first game against the Dolphins. Wiaan Mulder did well with the balls and even Dwaine Pretorius impressed. They boast of quality bowlers such as Nandre Burger and a good show is on the cards.

Weather Conditions

There are chances of rain at Oudtshoorn on 24th of February 2019 and this might play spoil sport. The grass cover on the wicket offers some assistance to the bowlers initially but the pitch otherwise is decent to bat on. A score of 300 plus runs is on cards if there is no rain interruption. 

Venue 

Recreation Ground, Oudtshoorn is a small venue where boundaries are short and this gives batsmen an advantage to go over the rope easily. The grass cover on the wicket also acts as an advantage for the fast bowlers and they often get good returns from the wicket by keeping the ball up.

It is a small ground and this puts the side batting first at an advantage if they are able to put a huge score on the board. Being an early start there might be some initial seam moment but it has been a good surface to bat on and the team winning the toss would elect to bat first.
