Du Plessis has shown good form for Chennai in this year’s competition. He has so far scored 320 runs in 10 matches with two half-centuries to his name. Chennai will be hoping that he can get the side off to a good start in this game.

Delhi Capitals Preview

The franchise certainly delivered clinical performances in this year’s competition in order to qualify for the playoffs after six years. Shreyas Iyer-led unit once again produced a splendid effort with bat and ball to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator game played at Visakhapatnam.

In the batting department, the side will be depending on the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant to do the bulk of the scoring.  Shikhar Dhawan has shown excellent at the top of the innings in this year’s competition. He is currently Delhi’s leading run scorer with 503 runs in 15 matches with five half-centuries to his name. Left-hander will be keen to produce something special with the bat and help Delhi upstage Chennai in this contest.

Besides Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer has not been far behind in terms of runs this season. He has scored 450 runs in 15 matches at an average of 32.14. Captain has not done much with the bat in the last two games and will be looking to produce a decent score in this game.

Wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant has been the savor for Delhi Capitals in the last two games played in the competition. He has delivered back-to-back spectacular batting performances to help Delhi reach this far in the tournament. Certainly, he is one player to watch out for Delhi in this game and could certainly prove to be the difference between the two teams.

The big positive for Delhi Capitals from the previous game was opening batsman Prithvi Shaw finding a form with the bat. He scored a crucial half-century to keep Delhi in the hunt to win the game. Shaw scored 56 off 38 balls with the help of six fours and two sixes. He put on a 66-run partnership with Shikhar Dhawan to help Delhi get off to a decent start against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The lower order has proven to be the weak link for Delhi Capitals so far this season. The bowling department has suffered a huge loss in the form of Kagiso Rabada, who was ruled out of the competition due to a back problem. The likes of Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra, and Kemo Paul form a match-winning combination. The bowling trio has picked up wickets for the side and has been able to contain the opposition batsmen in the later stages of the game.
