Our Prediction is Delhi Capitals to win the match!
Defending Champions will be keen to secure their place in the finals when they take on in-form Delhi Capitals in the Qualifier 2 game of Indian Premier League in Visakhapatnam on Friday.
In their previous game, Chennai failed to post a competitive score on the board and was comfortably brushed aside by Mumbai Indians. Captain MS Dhoni will be hoping for a much-improved batting performance in this game.
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals have surprised many with their performances in this year’s competition. The side managed to eke out a narrow win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator game played at Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.
In their previous two meetings between the teams this season, Chennai Super Kings have managed to come out on top against Delhi Capitals.
Reigning Champions will need to deliver their best cricket with bat and ball in this game. The team management will be concerned over the lack of runs from the top-order.
Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, and Shane Watson registered low scores in the Qualifier 1 game played against Mumbai Indians. The batting trio will need to produce notable scores to help Chennai post a competitive total on the board against Delhi Capitals.
Du Plessis has shown good form for Chennai in this year’s competition. He has so far scored 320 runs in 10 matches with two half-centuries to his name. Chennai will be hoping that he can get the side off to a good start in this game.
Besides, Raina and Watson have been inconsistent and will need to produce something in order to Chennai qualify for the second successive finals of the competition. All-rounder Shane Watson has been in woeful form and will need to dig deep in order to get a score in this game.
Ambati Rayudu has stood up whenever the team has required him in this year’s competition. Captain MS Dhoni has been the ace in the pack for Chennai Super Kings. Dhoni has scored 405 runs at a superb average of 135.00, has been in wonderful touch with the bat and has rescued his side out of danger more than a couple of occasions.
Taking about bowling, Vishakhapatnam might suit Chennai bowlers as it looked sluggish in the previous game. Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir, and Ravindra Jadeja have shown exceptional form in this year’s competition and collectively taken 50 wickets so far. Pace bowler Deepak Chahar has been a standout bowler and claimed 17 wickets so far in this year’s competition.

The franchise certainly delivered clinical performances in this year’s competition in order to qualify for the playoffs after six years. Shreyas Iyer-led unit once again produced a splendid effort with bat and ball to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator game played at Visakhapatnam.
In the batting department, the side will be depending on the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant to do the bulk of the scoring. Shikhar Dhawan has shown excellent at the top of the innings in this year’s competition. He is currently Delhi’s leading run scorer with 503 runs in 15 matches with five half-centuries to his name. Left-hander will be keen to produce something special with the bat and help Delhi upstage Chennai in this contest.
Besides Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer has not been far behind in terms of runs this season. He has scored 450 runs in 15 matches at an average of 32.14. Captain has not done much with the bat in the last two games and will be looking to produce a decent score in this game.
Wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant has been the savor for Delhi Capitals in the last two games played in the competition. He has delivered back-to-back spectacular batting performances to help Delhi reach this far in the tournament. Certainly, he is one player to watch out for Delhi in this game and could certainly prove to be the difference between the two teams.
The big positive for Delhi Capitals from the previous game was opening batsman Prithvi Shaw finding a form with the bat. He scored a crucial half-century to keep Delhi in the hunt to win the game. Shaw scored 56 off 38 balls with the help of six fours and two sixes. He put on a 66-run partnership with Shikhar Dhawan to help Delhi get off to a decent start against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The lower order has proven to be the weak link for Delhi Capitals so far this season. The bowling department has suffered a huge loss in the form of Kagiso Rabada, who was ruled out of the competition due to a back problem. The likes of Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra, and Kemo Paul form a match-winning combination. The bowling trio has picked up wickets for the side and has been able to contain the opposition batsmen in the later stages of the game.
Shreyas Iyer (captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant (wk), Prithvi Shaw, Colin Ingram/Colin Munro, Axar Patel, Sherfane Rutherford, Kemo Paul, Trent Boult, Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra.

The wicket prepared for the game will be decent batting. Expect the spinners to dominate the proceedings due to the sluggish nature of the pitch. The weather forecast for the game to be played on Friday is going to be bright and sunny.
Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam is one such venue where batsmen will have to work hard for their runs. The average score at the venue is around 130 runs. Delhi Capitals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator game played at this venue.
The side that wins the toss would like to bowl first and restrict the opposition to a modest total. Spinners will definitely come early into this game due to the slow nature of the surface. The previous game was won by side batting second.
Delhi Capitals will certainly start as favorites for this game as they managed to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad at Visakhapatnam. Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant and Captain Shreyas Iyer have shown excellent form for Delhi in this year’s tournament. The side has the firepower in their batting department to beat Chennai in this contest.
On the other hand, the form of top-order batsmen appears to be a weak link for Chennai. Bowling has been their strength in this year’s competition with the likes of Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir and Ravindra Jadeja picking up wickets at regular intervals.
Expect Delhi Capitals to edge past Chennai Super Kings in this game!
