It is the first game of the Royal London One-Day Cup, 2022 and Derbyshire would be up against the defending champions Glamorgan. Both sides didn’t fare well in T20 Blast, and they would look to make a good start here. Derbyshire plays at home, and they have good knowledge of the conditions. It remains to be seen if the side can make a good start to the tournament playing in front of their fans.
Glamorgan has won the last three out of four games they have played against Derbyshire. They would look to draw inspiration from those wins and do well in this game. It is the first game of the tournament and both teams would look for their first points. Batting looks good on both sides, and we are likely to see a close contest.
Billy Godleman has a big challenge on his hands. They would be missing some of the players who did well during the T20 Blast and who will be busy with The Hundred. They are up against a team that has players in good form, and it would test their skills and abilities. Godleman would look to make the best out of the resources at hand and get his side off to a good start.
Godleman and Harry Came looked in excellent form in the practice game they played against Shropshire. A similar start would put the side in a commanding position in this game. In the middle order, they have Thomas Wood in good form, and he would need to anchor the innings with Brooke Guest and Wayne Madsen. The side would expect to see runs from Anuj Dal and Mattie McKiernan down the order.
Sam Corners and Ben Aitchison come here with a strong show in the practice game and the side would expect the same from them here. Mattie McKiernan and Nick Potts shall have to bowl tight spells in the middle overs as Glamorgan have a strong batting line-up. Madsen and Wood add variety to this attack and make it strong.

David Lloyd would like to kick start their title defence in style. Lloyd would be slightly worried about the form of his players as they didn’t do well in the recent T20 blast. It’s a different ball game and they do have experienced players on the side. Derbyshire won’t make it easy for them and Lloyd would want his players to be on their toes a deliver a good show in this game.
Sam Northeast and Lloyd are the mainstays with the bat for the team and they would need to set up a good opening wicket stand in this game. Colin Ingram and Kiran Carlson shall need to anchor the innings in the middle overs for the team. Chris Cooke is a good hitter of the ball, and he would look to add quick runs with Joe Cooke and Daniel Douthwaite towards the end of the innings.
Timm Van Der Gugten and Jamie McIlroy must use the early conditions well in the game for the side to be in a comfortable position. Joe Cooke and Daniel Douthwaite have lots of experience and they shall have to bowl good lines and keep a check on the scoring rate. Andrew Salter has had a good summer and the team would like him to trouble Derbyshire batsmen.

There are predictions for cloudy skies and rains at Derby on August 2. We expect to see a high-scoring game as the wicket here is flat. Fast bowlers are expected to get good returns due to the overcast skies. Batsmen who get their eyes set in would be able to score runs easily. A score of 300 runs would be needed for the side batting first.
County Ground., Derby has always been a happy hunting ground batsman and we have seen them score heavily. Fast bowlers have also enjoyed a good record here as the ball tends to move when it is hard and new. It isn’t the best wicket for the spinners as there isn’t much on offer for them.
In the last few games played here, we have seen a great batting surface. Sides have put up big scores at this venue batting first. The wicket gets slower in the second half of the game. The side that bats first in this game shall look to bat and aim at a big total on the board.
Derbyshire are known for being nervous starters in the tournament. Their batsmen have done well in recent weeks, but the bowling attack hasn’t been in the best shape. The side would need a good performance from their bowlers to do well here. Glamorgan has one of the strongest batting line-ups in the tournament and has a good track record. This would make them favourites in this contest.
