Tournament: VITALITY T20 BLAST 2021 | Format: T20 | Venue: County Ground, Derby, England | Toss: To Bowl
Bet NowIn one of the most important games of the North Group in Vitality T20 Blast 2021 the Derbyshire Falcons would be taking on the Northamptonshire Steelbacks. The Falcons lost their last game against the Lancashire Lightning after putting up a big score on the board and this loss would hurt them. The Steelbacks too went down against the Birmingham Bears in the last game.
Derbyshire Falcons would take inspiration from their good record against the Steelbacks as they have won the last four out of the five games played between the two sides. The Steelbacks are struggling with the form of their batsmen and it would be interesting to see if they are able to rise up to the challenge in the next game.
Billy Godleman’s side has won only one game this season and they have suffered three losses. It was poor show from their bowlers in the last game against the Lancashire Lightning where they failed to defend the big score losing by 7 wickets. They have to get their act in order and win this game to rise up on the points table.
Openers Luis Reece and Harry Came must put up a better show as they have lacked consistency so far. In the middle order Godleman has been in poor form but the side would be happy with the performance of Leus du Plooy and Matthew Critchley, and this duo needs to do well in this game. Fynn Hudson-Prentice and Brooke Guest have good hitting abilities and they will need to do well here.
In the bowling department Logan van Beek and Conor McKerr have to keep the run flow under check with the new ball. George Scrimshaw and Prentice also went for runs in the last game and better show would be needed from them here. Matthew Critchley did well and has to keep up with the good show here.

Adam Rossington saw his side go down in the last game against Birmingham Bears by 55 runs. It was a poor show from their batting as they folded up for mere 115 runs. They have won just one out of their three games so far and need to get a move on. Rossington would be aware that his opponents are struggling as well and look for a better show from his players.
Richard Levi and Adam Rossington haven’t been in the best of form and the side would need a good show from them. In the middle order Ricardo Vasconcelos and Wayne Parnell have looked good and they will need to play an important hand in this game. They have good firepower to follow and shall expect runs from Rob Keogh, Saif Zaib and Charlie Thurston in this game.
Graeme White was impressive in the last game and shall look to grab early wickets along with Ben Sanderson. Parnell too is using his experience well at the moment. But the side would need tight spells from the likes of Nathan Buck, Tom Taylor and Saif Zaib who haven’t really delivered in the season so far.

The skies over Derbyshire would be cloudy and we might see rains during the game. This would make the batting conditions slightly tougher than what we have witnessed so far. Batsmen will have to approach the game with caution. A score of 170 runs would be a good total on this surface considering the weather.
County Ground, Derby offers assistance to the fast bowlers with the new ball. The true bounce and pace on this track allows the batsmen to play their strokes without any fear. There isn’t much turn on offer for the spinners and the small dimensions of the ground make it a big challenge for them.
In the two games played so far at this venue the side chasing the score has registered big wins. The wicket has been a good one to bat on and putting up a score here is a big challenge. Both the captains would have this in their minds and are likely to opt for bowling first upon winning the toss.
Northamptonshire Steelbacks have a mountain to climb in this game. Their batting has been poor so far in the tournament and the side would have to rise up to the challenge they face here to keep their hopes alive. Derbyshire too have struggled but they have a very good record against the Steelbacks. We expect this game to be close but Steelbacks would have slight advantage here.
