After restricting Warwickshire to 167-9, Derbyshire chased the target down in 19.1 overs with 5 wickets in hand. The stars of the chase were Thomas Wood (63* off 48 balls) and Leus du Plooy (57 off 34 balls). Du Plooy has been the leading run-getter for the Falcons this season with 345 runs at 49.28. He’s followed by opener Luis Reece who has contributed 253 runs at 28.11. The others in the unit haven’t done much and the likes of captain Matthew Critchle and Harry Came need to do a lot more. Wood’s form in the last is a good sign.

Derbyshire’s bowling has been largely revolving around seamers George Scrimshaw (13 wickets at an economy of 7.52) and Logan van Beek (13 wickets at an economy of 9.29). Scrimshaw was excellent in the last match as well with a spell of 3-23. Fynn Hudson-Prentice (13 wickets at an economy of 9.88) has also been impressive but the problem with this bowling unit has been that most of the bowlers have been on the expensive side.

It was an incredible bowling performance and was set by left-arm spinner Samit Patel’s spell of 3-4 in 4 overs. Patel has been really impressive for the Notts at the start and has gone at an economy of just 6.20. Jake Ball has been the other standout bowler for Nottinghamshire with 10 wickets at an economy of 10.93 along with Matthew Carter who has 9 wickets at 7.50. With Luke Fletcher and captain Steven Mullaney also contributing regularly, this bowling unit looks in pretty good shape.

On the batting front, the team looks pretty good. The chief performers for them so far have been openers Joe Clarke (240 runs at 40) and Alex Hales (234 runs at 46.80) along with Ben Duckett (182 runs at 36.40).
