Karnataka Tuskers to win this game!
Tournament: T10 League 2019 | Format: T10 | Venue: Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, UAE | Toss: To Bowl
Bet NowThis marks the 10th match of the T10 League 2019 and a win for either of the teams involved will ensure qualification while a loss is certain to knock them out. Both the teams have had a decent campaign with only NRR separating them in the Group B. Deccan Gladiators and Karnataka Tuskers have won against Bangla Tigers and Delhi Bulls respectively Karnataka Tuskers have had a wobbly campaign even though they have been decent with the ball.
Their batting, however, is something to watch out for as everyone has chipped in with contributions in the chances that they have got.
Deccan Gladiators, on the other hand, have had a good campaign with the bat and Shane Watson is the current leading run-scorer. DEG has been subpar below the ball and that explains their negative NRR.
DEG needs to look at certain issues if they are to beat a well balanced Karnataka Tuskers side. First up, they need to address their bowling department to make sure that every over for them is valuable. The Gladiators could go ahead and take a gamble by playing Tymal Mills ahead of Ben Cutting who has been very expensive with the ball in the 2 overs that he has bowled so far (30 runs). This is an option worth considering as their top order is in sublime form and an extra bowler might just help them back their target up.
However, with this game being a high pressure one, it is highly unlikely that DEG is going to start with any changes.
Key Player:
Shane Watson: Watson is the highest scorer in the league so far and even with age not on his side, the Australian has been racking up the numbers in leagues around the globe. He is a key player yet again for DEG. Opening the batting, Watson made 41 in 25 balls with three fours and as many sixes last game. He will once again be expected to start off on a good note for the Gladiators.
Mohammad Shahzad, Shane Watson (C), Anton Devcich, B Rajapaksa, Daniel Lawrence, Ben Cutting/Tymal Mills, Migael Pretorius, Zahir Khan, Fawad Ahmed, Mason Crane, Zahoor Khan.
Kieron Pollard, Ben Cutting, Zahir Khan, Dan Lawrence, Anton Devcich, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Zahoor Khan, Fawad Ahmed, Migael Pretorius, M Shahzad, SR Watson
Karnataka Tuskers have had a balanced campaign with both, bat and ball. However, they need to strengthen their batting as their game against DEG is likely to be a high scoring one. They could drop Shapoor Zadran and go with Marlon Samuels for the crunch game. Marlon Samuels can provide them with a finishing option with the bat and can be economical with his spin bowling. An extra batting option could be the answer to Karnataka Tuskers' quest of finding the right balance.
Key Player:
Sandeep Lamichhane: The Nepal spinner is someone who is capable of altering the flow of the game with his wicket-taking abilities. In the last game, Lamichhane bowled his two overs for just nine runs while picking up two wickets. With Group A tied on points, KAT will bank on an x-factor player like Lamichhane to give their campaign a boost.
Hashim Amla (c), Johnson Charles, Upul Tharanga, Shafiqullah Shafiq (wk), Ross Whiteley, Ahmed Raza, Ryan ten Doeschate, Sandeep Lamichhane, Patrick Brown, Shapoor Zadran, Nathan Rimmington
J Charles, Patrick Brown, Malinda Pushpakumara, Upul Tharanga, Shapoor Zadran, Ahmed Raza, Shafiqullah, Ross Whiteley, Hashim Amla, Evin Lewis, Sandeep Lamichhane
All the games so far at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in the ongoing League have been high scoring ones. However, the track has been favouring the spinners and the slower ones. The weather is expected to remain the same with clear skies and temperatures towards the higher 20s.
Sheikh Zayed Stadium is known for producing some exciting cricket games and the T10 this year will see it hosting all matches. Average score batting first on the second day of T10 League was 110. Teams batting second have had more success here historically.
DEG will prefer to chase on winning the toss as their only win has come while they were chasing. KAT on the other hand, will look to defend as they do that better. However, in a crunch game like this, one shouldn't be surprised if either of teams involved decide to defend.
While it's a tough one to decide as there's hardly any separation between the two sides. Deccan Gladiators have looked solid with the bat while their bowling has been a cause of worry for them. KAT, on the other hand, have better with the ball than they have been with the bat.
The points table superiority of Karnataka Tuskers might just help them and their confidence. Expect them to go on top of the table after tomorrow.
