The side hasn’t done well in the past and new skipper Andre Russell would look to guide them to their first title win. They are up against a very strong side in their opening game of the tournament and Russell would want his players to deliver the goods. They have good strength in batting and shall look to make good use of it. 

They have a strong opening pair in Tom Banton and Tom Kohler-Cadmore and the pair would be expected to deliver a good start. In the middle order, Najibullah Zardan, Andre Russell, and David Wiese add solidity to the batting. With Asif Khan and Wanindu Hasaranga in the lower middle-order, the side would be confident about its prospects with the bat in this game. 

The side would expect tight spells with the new ball from Wahab Riaz and Wanindu Hasaranga as the Braves have good firepower at the top. Hamid Hasan and Izharulhaq Naveed would be tasked with bowling tight spells in the middle overs of the game. Russell, Anwar Ali, and Weise are experienced bowlers in the shorter format of the game and there would be lots of expectations on them.

The Chennai Braves Preview

Nicholas Pooran who had led Northern Warriors to the title win in the last edition would look to do the same with the new franchise debuting this season. Pooran would be very confident with the outfit he leads that has several all-rounders in it. However, Pooran would like to guard off against all complacency here and aim at the first points of the season. 

The side would like to see a solid start from Mohammad Shahzad and Waseem Muhammad in this game as they would face a strong bowling attack. In the middle order Darren Bravo, Nicholas Pooran, and Bhanuka Rajapaksa shall look to push up the scoring rate. The side has solid depth in the batting with big hitters like Yusuf Pathan, Ravi Bopara, and Samiullah Shenwari to follow. 

On the bowling front, Munaf Patel and Fareed Ahmad Malik have to deliver early blows to put the side in a commanding situation in the game. It would be a warm evening in Abu Dhabi on November 20 and the skies are expected to be clear. We expect to see a flat wicket and the ball would come onto the bat nicely allowing batsmen to play their strokes easily. The side batting first would have to eye a total above 120 runs to win here.

Sheikh Zayed Stadium is a large ground and it has a flat surface where we have seen batsmen score runs easily in the past. Fast bowlers find the conditions difficult as there isn’t assistance for them from the surface. Spinners have done well as the ball tends to turn and stop on the batsmen.
