Hosts Dhaka Dynamites will take on Rajshahi Kings in the 2nd match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) in Dhaka on Saturday. 

Shakib led-unit played exceedingly well and managed to win seven games out of twelve played in the previous edition of the league. The side lost to Rangpur Riders in the finals of Bangladesh Premier League 2017-18.

On the other hand, Rajshahi Kings performed poorly in the preliminary stage of the competition last year. The franchise only managed to win four games out of twelve played last season. Kings certainly will be looking to do much better this season.

Dhaka Dynamites Preview

Three-time BPL Champions will look to start on a positive note in their first game of the competition. Captain Shakib Al Hasan will be hoping that Dynamites can put in pitch-perfect display with bat and ball.

For Dynamites, the responsibility will be on the likes of Ian Bell, Kieron Pollard, and Sunil Narine to do the bulk of the scoring. Last season, Pollard scored 238 runs in 12 matches at an average of 23.80. Narine can certainly destroy any side inside the Powerplay overs given his record as makeshift opener in the T20 format.

Andre Russell, Rovman Powell and Hazratullah Zazai are three players that can score quick runs for the side at the back end of the innings. 

In the bowling department, the likes of Sunil Narine, Shuvagata Hom and Rubel Hossain will need to produce breakthroughs for the side. Andrew Birch and Shahadat Hossain are prominent bowling options for Dynamites included in the squad.

Kings would be keen to turn their fortunes around in this year’s competition. The franchise endured their worst possible campaign last season and failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition.

In the batting department, the side will be relying heavily on Mominul Haque, Mohammad Hafeez and Soumya Sarkar to do the bulk of the scoring. Last season, Mominul was leading run-scorer for Kings with 230 runs in 12 matches at an average of 20.90.

All-rounders Ryan Ten Doeschate and Christiaan Jonker are valuable additions to the Kings this season. Ten Doeschate certainly played a lot of cricket around the world and his experience will be valuable for the Kings this season. 

South Africa’s Christiaan Jonker has quickly established his credentials as a big-hitter in T20 cricket. He will be one player to watch out for Kings this season.

In the bowling department, the likes of Mustafizur Rahman, Mohammad Sami, Isuru Udana and Arafat Sunny will need to deliver the goods for the side this season.
