It is the 9th game of the season in Bangladesh Premier League 2019 and the current table toppers Dhaka Dynamites would take on Rangpur Riders who are currently occupying the second spot in the table. Both the sides have done well so far in the season and have some of the biggest stars in the two sides. Dhaka is so far undefeated while Rangpur have lost their first game and since then have shaped up pretty well. 

It would be a clash of the titans when the two sides face each other in the upcoming game which would be one of the biggest so far in the season.

Dhaka Dynamites Preview

Shakib Al Hasan leads a tremendous side and they have won both their games against Rajshahi Kings and Khulna Titans convincingly riding on their batting prowess. 

They have one of the most destructive batting line-ups in the tournament. Hazratullah Zazai and Sunil Narine have given great starts to the side in both the games and look in wonderful form. Andre Russell, Shuvagata Hom and Kieron Pollard also seem to be in great touch with the bat. Shakib who has so far had a silent tournament with the bat would look forward to playing well in the upcoming game. 

Dynamites’ bowlers have done well in the tournament with Shakib Al Hasan and Sunil Narine making best use of the conditions and troubling the opponents. Rubel Hossain has also been pitching the ball in the right areas and this makes their bowling attack pretty strong going into the next game. A win here would put them in a comfortable spot on the points table something the team will like to achieve in the next game.

Rangpur Riders Preview

They started the tournament poorly against Chittagong Vikings but since then have defeated Comilla Victorians and Khulna Titans convincingly.

The batting order is pretty strong for the side with none other than Chris Gayle opening the batting. Mehedi Maruf is struggling for form but Rilee Rossouw has showed the incredible talent he has. Ravi Bopara did well in the only game he batted but rest of the batting order hasn’t batted since the first game when they fell like a pack of cards and it would be interesting to see how they stand up against Dhaka’s strong bowling attack. 

Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza has bowled well in almost every game which would give confidence to the side. The three youngsters in the side Nazmul Islam, Sohag Gazi and Shafiul Islam have also done well and together with their skipper they form a difficult bowling line-up to score against.

Weather Conditions

The weather forecast for January 11 in Dhaka is slightly hazy which should make bowlers on both the sides happy. The pitches so far in the season have been absolutely belters and we should expect a flat track in the upcoming game as well. Since it is an afternoon game the famous Dhaka dew isn’t likely to make any difference to the game. 

Venue

We have already seen some high scoring encounters at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. The pitches have played good so far offering assistance to bowlers as well. With short squares on both the sides and not the biggest boundaries in front and behind the wicket it is a batsmen’s paradise and also offers some bargain to the spinners.

Toss: To Bat

Being afternoon game dew isn’t a factor in the game and most teams would like to bat first and put up a good score on the board and challenge the opponents. Since it is the first game of the day there should be some juice on the surface in the initial overs of the game.
