Test for Dambulla Viiking’s bowlers against Jaffna Stallions
Jaffna Stallions to win
Lanka Premier League has got off to a positive start and we have already seen games go down to the wire. Dambulla Viiking would be taking on the Jaffna Stallions in the 5th game in what promises to be a close contest. Both the sides have won their respective opening games and would be confident. The Viiking won against the Kandy Tuskers while the Stallions demolished the Galle Gladiators in their opening game.
Both the teams would now be aspiring for a win here as this would take them to the top of the points table. The Stallions have already made a strong statement with the bat in the last game. Dambulla didn’t look a pushover either and have a bunch of promising players. It is still early days in the tournament and a win here would serve as a huge confidence booster for both the sides.
Dasun Shanaka’s side started the tournament with a convincing win defeating the Kandy Tuskers by 4 runs under the DLS method. While the scorecard doesn’t quite reflect their dominance the side did do well with the bat in the game. Shanaka would be looking for a better performance from his bowlers in the next game in their bid to reach the top of the points table.
The side would look for a good start from Oshada Fernando and Niroshan Dickwella as both of them missed out in the last game after looking good. Upul Tharanga brings in lot of experience at No. 3. Shanaka played an electrifying knock and along with Samit Patel makes this middle order formidable. With Lahiru Madushanka and Ramesh Mendis to follow there is good strength in their batting.
It is on the bowling front that the side would need to improve. Lahiru Kumara and Patel were expensive and they will have to do well with the new ball. Anwar Ali looked in good form in the game and he will look to start from where he left. Malinda Pushpakumara, Mendis and Lahiru Madushanka complete a good bowling attack for the side.

Thisara Perera’s side made a strong statement in the last game against the Galle Gladiators which they won by 8 wickets. Their batting looked very strong as the side chased down a big total convincingly with their batsmen looking in great form. Perera would look to continue with the same form as his side goes into the next game.
Avishka Fernando played a match winning knock in the last game and shall look to offer yet another positive start with Minod Bhanuka. The middle order is highly experienced with the likes of Dhananjaya de Silva, Shoaib Malik and Tom Moores in the side. Thisara Perera adds punch to the lower order with his hitting abilities and shall look to score quick runs along with Wanindu Hasaranga and Chaturanga de Silva.
Their bowlers were expensive in the last game and this is what the side would look to improve in this one. Kyle Abbott and Binura Fernando need to strike early and keep the run flow in check. Duanne Olivier will have to check his economy at the latter stages of the game. With Perera and Wanindu Hasaranga bowling tight lines, the side would be confident about its prospects.

There would be odd clouds over Hambantota on November 30. It would be a hot and humid afternoon at the start of the game. The pitch has so far been an excellent one to bat on where the batsmen have been able to hit the ball on the rise. There is little margin for error as far as the bowlers are concerned and the side batting first would look to post more than 180 runs on the board.
Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Hambantota is a batting friendly ground where a placid wicket along with electrifying outfield allows lots of scoring opportunities for the batsmen. Fast bowlers have a tough time on this surface but spinners have enjoyed better record here as the track offers turn.
We have already seen high scoring encounters at this venue where the pitch has been a good one to bat on. Teams batting first have dominated in most of the games. Thus we see the side winning the toss having little hesitation in opting to bat first in this game.
Both Dambulla Viiking and Jaffna Stallions come into this game with great confidence having registered victories in the previous game. Dambulla Viiking has a strong batting line-up but it their bowling attack that seems to be the weak link for the side at the moment. Jaffna Stallions looks strong on both counts and have experienced players in their line-up which shall put them slightly ahead of Viiking in this game.
