The 29th match of the CSA T20 Challenge 2019 would be the last league game for hosts Dolphins and the Cape Cobras. Dolphins playing at their home ground Kingsmead Durban have to win this game and hope for the Titans to lose their next game in order to make it to the semifinals. Cape Cobras are already in the semifinals and can afford to experiment a bit with their playing XI.

In the earlier game of the season between the two sides Cape Cobras had pulled off a close game into the bag. It will be interesting to see if the Dolphins are able to win this one and hope for a place in the semifinals.

Dolphins Preview

After a string of losses and washed out games Khaya Zondo’s team registered a good win over the Warriors in their last game to keep their hopes alive for a place in the semi-finals. It was a great batting display from the side and the skipper would want to maintain the same momentum as they play their next game.

Vaughn van Jaarsveld smashed a brilliant hundred to almost singlehandedly win the game for his side. There was good support from Cody Chetty as well. The side has a strong batting line-up with Morne van Wyk, Andile Phehlukwayo and Khaya Zondo in the side. van Wyk has had a good season and despite missing out in the last game he would be one of the batsmen the side would rely on in the next game.

Keshav Maharaj was the pick of the bowlers in the last game giving away only 18 runs in his 4 overs. There was good support from Prenelan Subrayen. But other bowlers including Daryn Dupavillon and Robbie Frylinck leaked runs which they will have to check before the next game.

Dolphins Predicted Playing XI:

Morne van Wyk (wk), Vaughn van Jaarsveld, Cody Chetty, Khaya Zondo (c), Andile Phehlukwayo, Senuran Muthusamy, Sibonelo Makhanya, Robbie Frylinck, Keshav Maharaj, Prenelan Subrayen, Daryn Dupavillon

Dolphins Actual Playing XI:

P Subrayen, Sibonelo Makhanya, C Chetty, Andile Phehlukwayo, Keshav Maharaj, Senuran Muthusamy, Daryn Dupavillon, Mv Wyk, Khaya Zondo, Robbie Frylinck, VBV Jaarsveld

Cape Cobras Preview

It was poor batting effort from Rory Kleinveldt’s team in the last game they saw them going down against the Lions. But the side has done well in the season and is the second team on the points table has already made it to the semi-finals. Kleinveldt would want his side to win the next game and go into the knockout stage with a victory.

Jean-Paul Duminy and Jason Smith were the only batsmen standing up to the challenge in the last game as the rest failed to impress. Hashim Amla looks in poor form at the moment. Janneman Malan and David Bedingham have done well in most of the games this season and would be looking to repeat the performance.

Vernon Philander bowled well in the last game and has looked in good shape in the last few games. But others failed to impress and the team would need the likes of Rory Kleinveldt, Tladi Bokako, and George Linde to bowl well in the upcoming game to win it.

Cape Cobras Predicted Playing XI:

Hashim Amla, Janneman Malan, David Bedingham (wk), Jean-Paul Duminy, Jason Smith, Aviwe Mgijima, George Linde, Vernon Philander, Rory Kleinveldt (c), Tladi Bokako, Nkululeko Serame

Cape Cobras Actual Playing XI:

George Linde, Nkululeko Serame, Jean-Paul Duminy, Rory Kleinveldt, Vernon Philander, JF Smith, Aviwe Mgijima, T Bokako, Janneman Malan, Kyle Verreynne, David Bedingham

Weather Conditions

It would be cloudy skies at Durban on the 28th of April and this will make conditions difficult for batting. The ball is expected to move around a bit off the surface and also in the air. The side batting first would be happy with a score in excess of 150 runs on this pitch.

VENUE

Fast bowlers have always enjoyed bowling at Kingsmead, Durban as the pitch is known to assist fast bowling. Batsmen have to get their eyes in on the wicket before they start playing their shots and its easy with time as the ball comes onto the bat quickly allowing stroke making.

Toss: WIN the toss, BOWL First

With cloud cover, the ball is expected to do a bit when there is some juice on the surface. It won’t be the easiest of tracks to bat first and the side winning the toss would in all probability like to bowl first here.

Dolphins are playing at their home ground and come into this game after an impressive win over the Warriors in the last game. Cape Cobras, on the other hand, went down against the Lions in their previous game. But they have looked one of the best sides so far with good firepower in their batting. It is expected to be a close game but Cape Cobras would have a slight edge over the Dolphins and would be the side to put money on.
