Momentum ODI Cup starts with a lot of hopes!
Dolphins will win this match!
South African cricket has been on a decline for the past 2-3 years with a lot of senior players and administrative issues off the field. CSA has a lot of hopes pinged on domestic tournaments to find new talented players who could take their cricket forward. Knights and Dolphins face off in their respective opening game of this season.
Dolphins ended as the runner-up last season while Knights failed to qualify for the knockouts and exited in the league stage itself. Both teams have won the Momentum Cup only once and will look to start this season on a positive note with a win.
Dolphins are led by South African batsmen Khaya Zondo and they have a well-experienced squad with a lot of star players. The batting unit is made up of star players such as David Miller, Sarel Erwee, Dane Vilas, Kerwin Mungroo, and Eathan Bosch.
All-rounders Andile Phehlukwayo, Robbie Frylinck, and Morne Van Wyk provide a good balance and depth to the playing XI with their all-round skills. Van Jarswald and Sibonela Makhanaya will be their lead pace bowlers of the team alongside the all-rounders. They have a dominant spin attack that is led by none other than Imran Tahir with the likes of Senuran Muthusamy and Prenelan Subrayen in the squad.
Sarel Erwee – Sarel Erwee is gaining a big reputation as a power hitter with his consistent performances in the domestic circuit for the past 6 months. We can expect Sarel Erwee to end the season as the highest six-hitter.
Robbie Frylinck – Frylinck come here after a superb BPL season with the ball and we can expect him to continue his good form with the ball in this tournament also.

Peter Van Biljon leads the team and he is an experienced campaigner who has led the team for many years. Rudi Second, Keegan Paterson, and Patrick Kruger will form the backbone of the batting department and have a big task on their hand to score the bulk of runs. Ryan McLaren, Duanne Olivier, and Shadley van Schalkwyk will lead the pace attack and take over the responsibilities of bowling with the new ball. Knights lack the experience in the spin department with Tsehpo Nuteli & Eddie Leie expected to take place as the first choice spinners in the playing XI.
Ryan McLaren – Ryan Mclaren had a good all-round season last year scoring 325 runs with the bat and took 6 wickets with the ball. He will look to add value to the team with his batting and bowling in this season too.
Duanne Olivier – Duanne Olivier is one of the most consistent bowlers of the South African domestic cricket and he is expected to lead the wicket charts this season too. He is just piling up wickets in all formats across leagues and tournaments.

Durban is expected to have a hot and sunny climate with no chances of rain. We will have a full quota of overs without any interruption in this match.
Durban is one of the high scoring pitches in the South African circuit and the shorter boundaries will further favour the batsmen. The average score in this pitch will be 240-260 runs.
Teams batting first have better success rate at this venue and we can expect both captains to bat first if they win the toss. Chasing under lights become a little difficult here.
Dolphins have a good experienced and all-round team with the likes of Zondo, Miller, Vilas, Phehlukwayo and Tahir in their team. Knights lack experience in the bowling department especially and will depend heavily on their star bowler Duanne Olivier.
Dolphins have an edge over the Knights when we compare players one on one.
We expect Dolphins to start their campaign with a win.
Dolphins will win this match!
