Dolphins shall take on Knights in the 15th game of Momentum One Day Cup 2019. The former are in great form having won three of their four games while the Knights are yet to register a win in the tournament. Knights’ batting has been in shambles and has let the side down so far. Dolphins on the other hand have looked good both with the bat and the ball and their main players are performing well.

It is a must win game for the Knights if they wish to keep their hopes alive for the rest of the season and it will be interesting to see if they are able to face the challenge that the Dolphins are likely to throw at them in the next game.

Dolphins Preview

Khaya Zondo would be hoping for his side to recover from the setback they had against the Warriors in the last game. The loss ended their winning streak and the skipper would want his side to regain the momentum by winning the next game.

Vaughn van Jaarsveld missed out in the last game and will look to do well in the next one. Sarel Erwee will also hope to give a better start to the side. Though they would miss the experience of David Miller they have a good batting line-up in the likes of Morne van Wyk, Khaya Zondo and Senuran Muthusamy.  They have the firepower in their batting to take on the opposition.

They would be missing the services of Imran Tahir and Andile Phehlukwayo who are on national duty but the side has good strength in its bowling. Prenelan Subrayen and Mthokozisi Shezi are bowling well and Calvin Savage despite going for some runs in the last game is a good bowler and would be looking to do well in the next game

Dolphins Predicted Playing XI:

Vaughn van Jaarsveld, Dane Vilas (wk), Calvin Savage , Prenelan Subrayen, Mthokozisi Shezi, Khaya Zondo (c), Sarel Erwee, Senuran Muthusamy, Morne van Wyk, Okuhle Cele, Eathan Bosch.

Dolphins Actual Playing XI:

P Subrayen, Keshav Maharaj, Sarel Erwee, Mthokozisi Shezi, Senuran Muthusamy, DJ Vilas, Okuhle Cele, Mv Wyk, Khaya Zondo, Robbie Frylinck, VBV Jaarsveld

Knights Preview

Petrus van Biljon's side has had a horrible season so far. After four games they are yet to register their first win. One more loss would dent their prospects of going into the next stage of the tournament.

The side has been let down by its batting especially openers Grant Mokoena and Andries Gous who had a bad day in the last game. Keegan Petersen was the only performer with the bat in the last game and it will be important for Ryan McLaren, Petrus van Biljon and Patrick Kruger to play their part well in the next game.

The bowlers did relatively well in the last game with Marchant de Lange, Shadley van Schalkwyk and Jacques Snyman keeping it extremely tight. Jacques Snyman picked up four important wickets and they would be looking forward to carrying the same form and compensate for the poor form that the batsmen have had so far in the season.

Knights Predicted Playing XI:

Ryan McLaren, Shadley van Schalkwyk, Marchant de Lange, Eddie Leie, Petrus van Biljon (c), Grant Mokoena, Keegan Petersen, Mbulelo Budaza, Patrick Kruger, Andries Gous (wk), Jacques Snyman.

Knights Actual Playing XI:

AGS Gous, Grant Mokoena, Keegan Petersen, RS Second, Eddie Leie, Ryan McLaren, Marchant de Lange, PJ van Biljon, Shadley van Schalkwyk, Mbulelo Budaza, Patrick Kruger

Weather Conditions

There are predictions for heavy shower on Durban on the 2nd of March and the weather is expected to remain highly overcast. There have been rains in the last couple of days and this would mean there is lot of moisture in the pitch.  The team batting first would be happy to get a score around the 260 run mark.

Venue

Kingsmead Durban has always assisted fast bowlers and now with moisture on the surface and overcast conditions bowlers are expected to get good bargain from the pitch. It will be interesting to see how the batsmen cope up with the added swing and seam as those willing to dig in have done well at this venue

Toss: To Bowl

Without an iota of doubt the captain winning the toss would like to bowl on this pitch. It will allow his fast bowlers to make better use of the conditions and with forecast for rain the team batting second may have an advantage in case the match is curtailed midway.

Dolphins have done exceedingly well in the season and have won three out of their four games. Apart from the last game’s loss against Warriors they have looked one of the best teams in the season. Knights have lost three out of their four games and the remaining one has been washed out. Going into this game the Dolphins definitely look the better side and would be favorites to win this one.
