The 5th game of the CSA T20 Challenge 2019 will see hosts Dolphins take on Lions at Kingsmead Durban. Both the sides are done with their opening games. Dolphins defeated the Knights in their opening game comfortably by 4 wickets while the Lions lost out a close game against the Cape Cobras. The visitors who had a bad show during the Momentum Cup would be eager to win the next game and not be left behind in the race. 

The Lions have had a slightly better record against the Dolphins with 11-9 win record but their recent form has been a concern. It will be interesting to see if they put that behind and do well in the next game.

Khaya Zondo would be happy with the performance his side put up against the Knights in their opening game. More than the win the way his side dominated the game would have given the skipper lot of confidence. He would want his men to continue with the same form and win the upcoming game. 

Sarel Erwee and Morne van Wyk got off the team to a good start but it was the performance of Marques Ackerman with the bat that sealed the game for the side. Cody Chetty, Sibonelo Makhanya and Zondo have good hitting abilities and this would make them confident for the next game. 

It was their bowlers who set up the brilliant win for the side in the last game. Daryn Dupavillon and Prenelan Subrayen picked 5 wickets between them giving away only 30 runs in 8 overs. Keshav Maharaj also bowled well in the game. The skipper would expect better performance from Eathan Bosch and Lwandiswa Zuma in the next game as they both went for few runs.

Lions Preview

Temba Bavuma’s side impressed with their performance in the first game against the Cape Cobras and nearly ended up chasing a decent score losing by 5 runs in the end. Having performed poorly in the Momentum Cup the skipper would be desperate for a win in the next game. 

Ryan Rickelton played well in the last game and skipper Temba Bavuma also did well. Wihan Lubbe also batted well but a batting collapse saw them losing the game. The team would expect better performances from Reeza Hendricks and Rassie van der Dussen in the next game and expect the two to put their experience to good use during the game. 

Bjorn Fortuin bowled well in the last game bowling that economical spell. There was support from Beuran Hendricks as well. But the rest of the bowlers including Malusi Siboto, Dwaine Pretorius and Wiaan Mulder leaked too many runs. They would need to bowl a tighter line if the side is expected to win against the Dolphins in the next game

Kingsmead, Durban has assisted the fast bowlers over the years and with weather expected to be overcast the bowlers are likely to have a great time. Batsmen have to get their eye in on this surface before they can play their shots and this pitch is tilted in favor of the fast bowlers.
