The 14th match of the CSA T20 Challenge 2019 is expected to be a competitive one. Dolphins would be up against the Warriors at their home ground Kingsmead. Both the side has got off to poor start in the tournament winning one out of their four games so far. While Warriors have lost one and seen two of their games being washed away Dolphins have been defeated twice so far.

In the last five T20 games played between the two sides the Warriors have held the edge and won four of these games. It remains to be seen if the Dolphins are able to bounce back from this poor record or Warriors have the last laugh.

Dolphins Preview

In the last game against the Cape Cobras Khaya Zondo’s side suffered a close defeat. While they batted well towards the end to bring the game close their top order failure cost them the game. Zondo would hope his side can put behind that setback and register a win in the next game.

Khaya Zondo and Robbie Frylinck played well in the last game and nearly took their side home but there was little support from the rest. Sarel Erwee’s form has become a concern for the team. Morne van Wyk, Cody Chetty and Sibonelo Makhanya too are good batsman and they would have to do well in the next game to increase their team’s winning odds.

Keshav Maharaj and Prenelan Subrayen bowled extremely tight spells in the last game while Robbie Frylinck also looked good but there was little support from the other bowlers in the game. Lwandiswa Zuma and Daryn Dupavillon will need to bowl in the right areas and check the flow of runs in the next game.

Dolphins Predicted Playing XI:

Morne van Wyk (wk), Robbie Frylinck, Prenelan Subrayen, Cody Chetty, Keshav Maharaj, Khaya Zondo (c), Sibonelo Makhanya, Daryn Dupavillon, Sarel Erwee, Lwandiswa Zuma, Marques Ackerman

Warriors Preview

It is getting frustrating for JJ Smuts’ side in the season. They had started with a bang defeating the Titans and since then have seen their games against Knights and Lions being washed way and suffering a defeat at the hands of Cape Cobras. They would be eager to win the next game and rise up on the points table.

Against the Lions Matthew Breetzke and Gihahn Cloete failed to put up a strong partnership and the game would be remembered for the blinder that Marco Marais played towards the end. There are good players for the side in the middle order in the form of Sinethemba Qeshile, Smuts and Lesiba Ngoepe and they will have to play to their potential for the side to win the upcoming game.

In Lutho Sipamla and Andrew Birch the side has a good bowling combination but they are yet to live up to their true potential so far in the tournament. The fate of the side rests on their bowling and they will need to bowl well. Sisanda Magala and Jade de Klerk also need to keep the line tight along with Smuts for the side to do well.

Warriors Predicted Playing XI:

JJ Smuts (c), Andrew Birch, Gihahn Cloete, Lesiba Ngoepe, Sisanda Magala, Lutho Sipamla, Thomas Kaber, Matthew Breetzke, Jade de Klerk, Marco Marais, Sinethemba Qeshile (wk)

Weather Conditions

Heavy rain is being forecast at Durban on the 17th of April and this would play into the minds of both the sides. The pitch usually favors the fast bowlers as they get good movement off the surface.  The side that goes into bat first should eye a score in excess of 150 runs to win the game.

Venue

Kingsmead, Durban is a good ground for the fast bowlers and with chances of rain and cloud cover the bowlers would love bowling on this track. Once the batsmen adjust to the pace and bounce of the track they can also hit freely though fast bowlers still have advantage on this surface.

Toss: To Bowl

The weather forecast would play in the minds of both the captains at the toss and in all likelihood we might have a rain curtailed game. Here the side batting second would have the advantage and hence the skipper winning the toss might invite the opponent to bat first.

Both Warriors and Dolphins have started the tournament on a similar note and have so far registered one win each. Warriors would be frustrated to have seen two of their games being washed away due to rain. The home side Dolphins has lost two games so far in the tournament. While there is little to choose between the two sides Warriors seem to be nose ahead of the Dolphins doing into this game.
