Test series returns to action with the Kiwis making a visit to the English soil to feast the cricket fans who are deprived of competitive cricket last month due to the cancellation of IPL. England has been a very dominant team in the Test format especially in their home soil and they have lost just 2 series in the last decade. They will look to extend their home record and test their bench strength with new faces in this series. New Zealand will look to set the tempo for their ICC Test Championship final with a brilliant performance in this series. We expect an enthralling contest between the two quality teams in the toughest form of the game.

England Preview

Dom Sibley and Rory Burns are expected to open the batting but Haseeb Hameed might have an outside chance owing to his impressive county form. Zak Crawley will return to the No.3 position with skipper Joe Root and Ollie Pope returning their favored No.4 & No. 5 positions respectively. Wicket-keeper James Bracely will make his Test debut in this match.

Bowling stalwarts James Anderson and Stuart Broad are expected to join together with the new ball with Olly Stone and Mark wood fighting for the third seamer`s slot. Craig Overturn will take their all-rounder`s role and Jack Leach will come in as the specialist spinner for the team.

Top players to bet on:

Joe Root – Root scored a lot of runs in the sub-continental conditions in Sri Lanka and India in the last 2 series. He will translate his form in his home soil against the Kiwis in this series too.

James Anderson – Anderson has 600+ Test wickets to his name and is one of the toughest bowlers to face in English conditions.  He will take a lot of wickets with his ability to swing the ball both ways.

England Predicted Playing XI:

Joe Root (C), Rory Burns, Dom Sibley, Zak Crawley, Ollie Pope, James Bracely (wk), Craig Overturn, James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Olly Stone/Mark Wood, Jack Leach

England Actual Playing XI:

Joe Root, Daniel Lawrence, Mark Wood, Ollie Pope, Stuart Broad, Zak Crawley, Ollie Robinson, Dominic Sibley, James Anderson, Rory Burns, James Bracey

New Zealand have very well settled batting unit with experienced players and some young players knocking the doors with their impressive performances. Skipper Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor will their batting mainstay with the likes of Tom Latham, Tom Blundell, Henry Nicholls, and BJ Watling expected to provide the stability for the team.

The tall lanky Kyle Jamieson will look to extend his superb performances outside the New Zealand soil in this series. There will be a tussle between Colin De Grandhomme and Mitchell Santner for the lone all-rounder`s role.

Kyle Jamieson – Jamieson has 36 wickets in just 6 matches he played so far. He will look to trouble the batsmen with his pace, bounce, and swing in the English soil.

New Zealand Predicted Playing XI:

Kane Williamson (c), Ross Taylor, Tom Latham, Tom Blundell, Henry Nicholls, BJ Watling (wk), Mitchell Santner/Colin De GrandHomme, Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Kyle Jamieson, Neil Wagner

Weather Conditions

London is expected to have overcast conditions for the most part of the match. We might experience some intermittent rains and we hope it won’t take away many overs out of the game.

Venue Details

Lord`s is one of the tough pitches for batsmen as the ball is expected to swing prodigiously here. In 8 out of the last 10 completed innings, teams were bowled out for less than 260 runs.  Any score above 300 runs will be a good total on this track.

Toss: To Bowl

We expect both teams to bowl first as overcast conditions are predicted for the first day. Days 2 & 3 will be good for batting and both captains will look to bat in that timeframe.

New Zealand has one of their most strong teams with an all-round batting and bowling units in this series. But, their batting has been very frugal in away conditions and will look to make amends in this series. England will miss the services of Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes, and Jofra Archer in this series but it will be a great opportunity to test their bench players. They still have a solid top-5 batsmen with the duo of James Anderson and Stuart Broad in their bowling attack. We expect England to win this match owing to their record in home conditions.

ENGLAND will win the match & go up 1-0
