Tournament: New Zealand tour of England, 2021 | Format: TEST | Venue: Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham, England | Toss: To Bowl
Bet NowNew Zealand will be slightly happier team after the first test despite the match ending in draw. They gave a courageous target for England to chase on the final day. But, the English team lacked power in their lower order owing to the absence of Stokes and Buttler and decided to shut shop with their stoic defense. New Zealand kept attacking but were unable to force a result with more than a day washed away from the match. England suspended their debutant Ollie Robinson`s after his decade old racist and sexist tweets took limelight on the eve of the Test match and were also fined 25% match fees for the slow over-rate.
England openers Rory Burns (132 & 25 runs) and Dom Sibley (0 & 60* runs) scored most of the runs for their team. Skipper Joe Root scored 40+ runs in both the innings and missed to make a huge contribution. Zak Crawley (2 & 2), Ollie Pope (22 & 20*), James Braceley (0), and Dan Lawrence (0) were dismissed cheaply in first innings and were not required to bat in the second innings.
Ollie Robinson was the highest wicket taker with 7 wickets but is not available for this match. Mark wood picked up 4 wickets while the duo of Broad (1) and Anderson (2) bowled with hard luck as they claimed just 3 wickets across 2 innings. Jack leach is expected to play in this match with the pitch expected to favor spinners.
Top players to bet on:
Rory Burns – Burns played a brilliant knock of 132 runs in the first innings and was dismissed as the last man taking his tem total to 275 runs. He will be high on confidence after the knock and will look to continue his purple patch.
James Anderson – Anderson has 600+ Test wickets to his name and is one of the toughest bowlers to face in English conditions. He will take a lot of wickets with his ability to swing the ball both ways.
Joe Root (C), Rory Burns, Dom Sibley, Zak Crawley, Ollie Pope, James Bracely (wk), Dan Lawrence, James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Mark Wood, Jack Leach

Debutant Devon Conway was the star for the New Zealand and he made a record double century in the first innings. Henry Nicholls (61 runs) provided him valiant support with 170-run partnership. Tom Latham and Ross Taylor got starts but failed to make it count and skipper Kane Williamson fell cheaply in both innings.
Tim Southee picked up 7 wickets in the match with a 6-wicket haul in the first innings. Kyle Jamieson and Neil Wagner picked up 3 wickets in the match. Trent Boult is expected to play this match after his early quarantine. Spinner Ajaz Patel might get a chance if Mitchell Santner is declared unfit for this match owing to his injury.
Top players to bet on:
Tom Latham – Latham had scores of 23 & 36 in the first match and survived the torrid spell of England new ball bowlers. He will look to make a big score in this match after getting his eye in.
Neil Wagner – Neil Wagner troubled the batsmen consistently and picked up 3 wickets in the match. He will look to continue his good show in this match and pick up more wickets. He also scored 35 runs with the bat.

Birmingham have overcast conditions in day one and will be bright and sunny on the all the remaining days. But English weather is little unpredictable these days. Days 4 & 5 will be hard as the pitch might slow down and aid spinners.
Edgbaston will be harder deck and the pick will have something in it for both batsmen and bowlers. Pacers will dominate the bat with the new ball while spinners might come into the picture in last two days. Teams will look to make 350+ runs in the first innings as batting becomes very tough in the last 2 days.
Batting first is the best option as the picth will settle down after 20-25 overs and run scoring becomes easier for the next 2 days. Batting fourth on this pitch will be uphill task and both temas will look to avoid them.
New Zealand team will be high on confidence and their mentality was shown in the brave declaration from Williamson. England lack consistency and experience in lower order in batting department and will need their iconic duo of Anderson and broad among wickets in this match. New Zealand have a very well-settled batting and bowling units with Trent Boult expected to join the team. We expect New Zealand to win this match but it won’t be an easier task against an England team in English conditions.
NEW ZEALAND will win the match & the series 1-0
