Sri Lanka Legends take on England Legends, in a game that promises to be a high-scoring and entertaining match if the past results have to be taken into consideration. Sri Lanka Legends are coming off a win in their first game of the series, and England Legends are getting set to play their first game of the competition.

The Sri Lanka legends have lost just 1 game of their last 5 games in the series, with their only loss coming against the India Legends in the Finals of the previous edition. The SL Legends have always been a very formidable and strong squad in the Road Safety Series, and the first game against the Australia Legends was a testament to it.

The England Legends have blown hot and cold in the Road Safety Series. It could be said that the squad is not that strong compared to the other teams, but they still possess the skill and strength to take down the opposition, which would be their main objective coming into this edition of the tournament. Sri Lanka Legends would want to continue their domination and build on the start that they've got. However, England legends would be looking to put on a better performance and hopefully make the finals.

England Legends Preview

England Legends would want to do better than finishing 5th, as they did in the previous edition of the Road Safety Series. Playing the first game of the series, the England Legends would want to get off on a positive note, but face a daunting task in the form of Sri Lanka.

Ian Bell is the star name who will have the limelight and the responsibility to shoulder the batting for the English. He will have the support of Nick Compton, Darren Maddy and Phil Mustard who will have to pull up their socks if England wants to have a shot at the Road Safety Series. The batting needs to come good, as this seems to be their weaker department.

The bowling department, on the other hand, consists of some stellar names, who in their own right are match winners. The most eye-catching name is that of Jade Dernbach, who was touted as being the T20 specialist and bowled the difficult overs as he possessed the variations and skills. Other than him, Chris Tremlett is also a very dependable bowler, who will want to have a really good tournament. The English would want to start off with a win putting aside the underdog's tag and making a statement by winning against the in-form Sri Lankans.

Key Players: Ian Bell, Nick Compton, Jade Dernbach, Chris Tremlett

England Legends Predicted Playing XI:

Sri Lanka Legends Preview

Finishing 2nd in the points table last season, and making it to another final the Sri Lanka Legends would be quite disappointed by not being able to win the series last season. Sri Lanka has made a fantastic start to their tournament by beating the Australian Legends winning the game by 38 runs, posting a mammoth total of 218 runs for the loss of just 1 wicket.

The batting department looks like it could give the current International side a run for their money. The opening partnership put on a mammoth 208-run stand, essentially blowing away the Australians before the second innings even started. Captain Tillakaratne Dilshan scored 107 runs which included 14 boundaries and 4 sixes. His opening partner, Dilshan Munaweera scored a mighty impressive 95 not out off 63 balls, which included 10 boundaries and 2 sixes.

Despite the great batting display, the bowling department also joined the party. They bowled out the Australians within 18 overs, further showcasing their dominance. Nuwan Kulasekara was the star of the 2nd innings, picking up 4 wickets. He was well supported by Jeevan Mendis and Chaturanga de Silva, who picked up 2 wickets each. The Sri Lanka Legends would want to take this momentum in the game against England and continue their sublime form.

Key Players: Tilakratne Dilshan, Nuwan Kulasekara, Dilshan Munaweera, Upul Tharanga

Weather Conditions

The weather will be pleasant, with an 87% chance of rain on match day. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be in the 30°C - 25°C range.

Venue Details

Located on the banks of the river Ganges, Kanpur's Green Park stadium was named after Madam Green, who used to practice horse-riding at the venue in the 1940s. The square at Green Park is generally considered as slow and low due to the nature of the soil available in this part of the world. Apart from being batsmen-friendly, the pitches here tend to aid the spinners more because of the lack of pace.

Toss: To Bat

As there are chances of rainfall, the smarter option would be to bowl first and chase down the total if the D/L method comes into play. However, being a batting-friendly wicket, the teams might also want to take advantage of the fresh pitch.

Sri Lanka legends look like a mighty strong team and have shown their might in the first game of the tournament itself. But their middle order is still to be tested and will be an interesting contest if they lose the top order early. England in comparison does not have such a strong squad but will look to capitalize on taking early wickets, making it a very open contest. Although, we do see a slight edge for SL Legends here.

We predict that Sri Lanka Legends will defeat England Legends
