Guyana Amazon Warriors secured third place in the first-ever GSL last season and have tweaked their squad without disrupting their core. Familiar names like Imran Tahir, Moeen Ali, Romario Shepherd, and Gudakesh Motie are all back.
Romario Shepherd brings weight as a power-hitter and can chip in with the ball, especially on these slower pitches.
Shimron Hetmyer is included after turning out for the Seattle Orcas in the Major Cricket League, but it is not yet confirmed if he will feature in this match.
New faces include promising keeper-batters Jewel Andrew and Amir Jangoo, along with aggressive top-order players Johnson Charles and Evin Lewis. Akeal Hossein comes in with his left-arm spin to round out the bowling options.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz returns to the squad following previous CPL runs, joined by Mark Adair from Ireland and Pakistani all-rounder Saud Shakeel, offering more depth and flexibility.
The Warriors will be without Shai Hope, Kevlon Anderson, and Roston Chase due to international commitments. Keemo Paul misses out through injury.

Rangpur Riders, last season’s champions, return with a strong squad that blends proven local talent with overseas firepower. They had a shaky beginning in the previous campaign, losing their first three games, but turned it around with three wins on the bounce to take the trophy.
Nurul Hasan Sohan is back as captain, having guided them to the title last time. The team has held on to several reliable domestic names such as Soumya Sarkar, who finished as their highest scorer, along with Yasir Ali, Naim Sheikh, Saif Hassan, and Mahidul Islam Ankon.
Meanwhile, Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Rakibul Hasan bring plenty of experience to the bowling side.
The overseas unit packs a punch too. Kyle Mayers adds muscle with both bat and ball, while Tabraiz Shamsi provides mystery with his spin. Ibrahim Zadran brings stability up top for the batting unit.
They’re joined by Akif Javed, who made a strong impact in the last BPL, as well as promising Pakistan batter Khaja Nafay and India’s Harmeet Singh, giving Rangpur more depth and options across the board.

The surface at Providence Stadium can grip a little, especially in the early stages, which makes things easier for the spinners. Batters usually need a bit of time before they can start playing their shots freely. Timing can be an issue if the ball sticks in the pitch. Fast bowlers who take the pace off are often more effective.
Rain is expected in Guyana on Thursday, with a 94 percent chance of showers expected throughout the day.

Providence Stadium usually sees first-innings scores around 151. The biggest total here posted here was in 2022, when Jamaica Tallawahs put up 226 for 4 against Guyana Amazon Warriors. That kind of total is rare, though. In most cases, something in the 170 range will put pressure on the side chasing under these slowish conditions.
With rain expected, the toss-winning side will likely prefer to bowl first with DLS possibly giving them an edge.
Guyana Amazon Warriors versus Rangpur Riders has the makings of a high-intensity clash. Guyana ended third last time and have a good shot at pushing deeper this time. Rangpur will aim to hold on to their title and they’ve got the tools to do it. Both squads look well-balanced, and this one could swing either way depending on how the opening innings plays out. That said, with Guyana playing at home and more familiar with the conditions, we give them a slight advantage at 55-45 heading into this matchup.
