Birmingham Bears to win
Tournament: VITALITY T20 BLAST 2020 | Format: T20 | Venue: Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, England | Toss: To Bowl
Bet NowA confident team from Glamorgan would be up against the Birmingham Bears in the next game of the Central Group in T20 Blast 2020. Glamorgan comes into this game after a 15 wicket win against Gloucestershire where they batted well and bowled brilliantly. As for the Birmingham Bears this will be their first outing on the field after their previous encounter against Somerset was washed away by rain.
It will be a contest between two sides with contrasting team compositions. While Birmingham Bears are coming into this game with several big names in their squad, Glamorgan have a young and exciting team that is full of promising players. They will need to win the mental battle against a well-balanced side and this is expected to make the game very interesting.
Chris Cooke would have been very happy with the way his young side played against Gloucestershire in the last game. They batted well and were good when it came to defending their score in the final overs. Cooke would be aware of the kind of team they are up against and expect to see good show from the entire unit.
Billy Root played well in the last game and he will look to stitch together a good partnership with Daniel Douthwaite. Andy Balbirnie and Cooke are experienced players and proved that in the last game. The team would be expecting a similar show from them on this occasion as well. Marchant de Lange, Kiran Carlson and Cullum Taylor add depth to this bowling attack.
It was great to see a tight spell from Prem Sisodiya and Andrew Salter in the last game and the team would have big hopes from them here as well. Timm van der Gugten also did well and shall look to keep the line tight during the middle overs in company of de Lange and Taylor in this game.
Chris Cooke (c & wk), Kiran Carlson, Callum Taylor, Andrew Balbirnie, Billy Root, Daniel Douthwaite, Graham Wagg, Andrew Salter, Marchant de Lange, Timm van der Gugten, Prem Sisodiya

It was a non-start for Will Rhodes’ side in the first game against Somerset where rains didn’t even allow the sides to get to toss. Glamorgan’s form in the last game would already be worrying the skipper. Rhodes would have confidence in his men and want them to play out of their skins to win this game.
Opening the batting Michael Burgess and Ed Pollock will look to provide a good start. The pair had done well last season as well. Sam Hain is a great No. 3 for the team and shall play the anchor’s role. Dominic Sibley, Ian Bell and Adam Hose make this batting very experienced. Will Rhodes and Jeetan Patel would look to free their arms when opportunity arrives in this game.
They are slightly weak as far as their new ball attack is concerned. Alex Thomson and Dan Mousley are relatively inexperienced and they will be expected to provide the side with a good start. Willl Rhodes and Tim Bresnan bring in the much needed experience to this attack. Jeetan Patel, a veteran of many battles will be expected to trouble the Glamorgan batsmen in the game.

The conditions would be good at Cardiff on August 30 and we should have a good game on our hands. There have been rains here for few days and hence the track would be damp and this will create headaches for the batsmen. Bowlers are likely to enjoy these conditions. Any score in the range of 150 runs would be good on this surface.
Sophia Gardens, Cardiff offers assistance to the bowlers with the new ball as there is bounce and swing on offer here. Batsmen who are patient and get their eyes in have enjoyed good record here in the past. Spinners also do well here as the odd ball tends to stop on the batsmen and creates doubts in their minds.
In the last 6 T20 Blast games played at this venue only once has a side won the game after setting a total. This is a good ground to chase scores and this is something the skipper would have in mind at the toss and we expect the side that wins the toss to prefer bowling first on this surface.
It is going to be a close fought contest with the kind of form Glamorgan is coming in with and the balance that Birmingham Bears have in their side. For all the positives from their last game Glamorgan’s bowling attack is relatively inexperienced and this is a big problem for the team. Birmingham Bears look a much more compact unit and has several experienced campaigners among their ranks which will make them favourites in this contest.
