Defending champions Glamorgan would like to continue with their good show as they play Yorkshire at their home ground Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. They have won both their games and defeated Kent in the last game. The team would be confident with these wins. Yorkshire would also be high on confidence as they defeated Worcestershire in the last game.

Glamorgan has enjoyed an excellent record at Sophia Gardens where they have lost only once in the last six games. The players know the conditions well and they shall look to use this to their advantage. Yorkshire lacks experience in the bowling department, and this poses a big challenge for the side. They need to deliver their best to win this game and move to the top of the points table.

Glamorgan Preview

Kiran Carlson would be happy with the performance of her side in this tournament so far. They have won both their games and defeated Kent by 3 wickets in the last game. Their batsmen played well in the last game chasing down a big score. Yorkshire has shown good form and Carlson shall like to see a spirited show from his players in this game.

David Lloyd and Sam Northeast haven’t made runs in the first two games, and they would need to score runs at the top. Colin Ingram’s big hundred in the last game shall make him confident. He’d look to set up partnerships with Carlson and Billy Root. Tom Cullen is a good finisher, and he needs to add quick runs from him, Joe Cooke, and Daniel Douthwaite.

Jamie McIlroy and Jamie McIlroy did well with the new ball in the last game. Early strikes from them shall put the side in a strong position. Andrew Salter, Joe Cooke, and Douthwaite leaked runs in the last game. They know these conditions well and they shall have to take advantage of them. Lloyd and Ingram add to the team’s bowling options.

Glamorgan Predicted Playing XI:

Kiran Carlson (c), Sam Northeast, David Lloyd, Colin Ingram, Billy Root, Joe Cooke, Daniel Douthwaite, Tom Cullen (wk), Andrew Salter, James Weighell, Jamie McIlroy

Yorkshire Preview

Jonathan Tattersall’s side made a strong comeback in the last game to defeat Worcestershire by 4 wickets. This win would have pumped up the confidence in the camp after their poor show against Lancashire. They have enjoyed a good record against Glamorgan in the past and Tattersall would want his players to draw inspiration from those wins.

Harry Duke and Will Fraine have already hundreds in the tournament and the side would expect to see a big partnership from them. George Hill hit a hundred in the last game, and he makes the middle order strong with William Luxton and Tattersall. Matthew Revis, Matthew Waite, and Tom Loten must add quick runs down the order for the side to be in a comfortable position.

Ben Coad and Matthew Waite bowled good lines in the last game and a similar show with the new ball would be expected from them. Dominic Bess is an experienced bowler, but he hasn’t found his line yet and this would slightly worry the side against Glamorgan’s strong batting line-up. Tom Loten, Revis, and Jack Shutt need to do well in the supporting act.

Yorkshire Predicted Playing XI:

Jonathan Tattersall (c), Will Fraine, Harry Duke (wk), William Luxton, George Hill, Matthew Revis, Matthew Waite, Dominic Bess, Tom Loten, Ben Coad, Jack Shutt

Weather Conditions

The skies over Cardiff would be clear on August 10 and we expect it to be a high-scoring game. There would be early assistance for the fast bowlers, but the wicket would be flat and good for batting. The side batting first in this game would hope to put up a minimum of 300 runs.

Venue Details

Sophia Gardens, Cardiff is a big ground, and the wicket here balances out between the batsmen and the bowlers. Fast bowlers find this wicket good to bowl on and batsmen who get their eyes set in have done well. The large size of the venue also makes it good for the spinners but there isn’t much assistance for them from the surface.

Toss: To Bowl

Teams haven’t won too many games at this venue batting first in the last few seasons. The conditions have been challenging at the start of the game where the ball moves making it difficult for the batsmen. Hence, the side that wins the toss in this game is likely to bowl first and aim at dismissing the opponents for a small total.

Yorkshire would go into this game with their confidence high. However, the side has still a few problems, especially with their inexperienced bowling attack. This would be a big challenge as Glamorgan have a strong batting line-up.  It is Glamorgan’s home ground and they have defended it like a fort. The side has won both its games and shall start favorites in this game as well.
