We have had a good start to the Vitality T20 Blast, 2022, and have an important game on our hands as Gloucestershire takes on the Sussex Sharks. Both sides have started the season with losses and shall be eager for a win. Gloucestershire was hammered by Middlesex in their opening game while the Sussex Sharks went down against Glamorgan
Gloucestershire come here with a poor show as their bowlers gave away 229 runs in the last game. They will have to execute their bowling plans well to win this game. They haven’t defeated Sussex Sharks at home since 2014 and this would play on their minds. Both sides need to win this game to get their campaigns back on track and we expect to see a good contest.
They have started the season with a loss and Jack Taylor would be extremely upset with the performance of his bowlers. They allowed Middlesex batsmen to put 229 runs on the board in the last game and went down by 30 runs. Their record against Sussex isn’t too inspiring and Taylor would look to get back to form with a win at their home ground.
Miles Hammond and James Bracey will have to play important knocks in this game as they will face a good bowling attack. The middle-order fared poorly in the last game and the side would need runs from Ian Cockbain, Glenn Phillips, and Ryan Higgins in this game. Benny Howell showed his hitting abilities in the last game and the side would need more of that from him and Tom Smith down the order.
Their bowling attack took a beating in the last game and the side would have to come out of that shock. David Payne and Naseem Shah will need to strike early in the game as Sussex have a strong batting line-up. Howell and Higgins bowled good lines and the same would be needed from them here. Paul van Meekeren must check his length as his mediocre performance in the last game led to their loss.

It wasn’t the kind of start that Ravi Bopara would have wanted. They batted poorly and set up an average total on the board in the last game against Glamorgan. Bopara would like his side to get over this 7-wicket loss. They have enjoyed an excellent record at Bristol against Gloucestershire in the past and the Sharks’ skipper would like his players to draw inspiration from those wins.
Mohammad Rizwan played a brilliant knock in the last game and the side would like Luke Wright to offer him good support at the top. Bopara, Josh Phillippe, and Delray Rawlins went out cheaply and they have important roles here. Harrison Ward and George Garton will have to play strong quickfire knocks the order as we expect this to be a high-scoring contest.
Delray Rawlins looked in good shape against Glamorgan, but the side would look for a better show from the experienced Steven Gill. Tymal Mills, Garton, and Will Beer are good bowlers for this format of the game and the side would like to see them shine. Archie Lenham and Bopara add to the side’s bowling depth.

There would be odd clouds over Bristol on May 27, but we expect to see a flat track as we have seen in the past. The track has produced lots of runs in the past and batsmen have enjoyed their stay on the crease. The side batting first in this game would be aiming for a total of 180 runs.
The Bristol County Ground has one of the best batting surfaces where the ball comes to the bat nicely and allows batsmen to play their strokes easily. Fast bowlers enjoy the pace and bounce on this surface. Spinners don’t have a good record here as the small size of the ground makes it difficult for them.
It is one of the highest-scoring venues in England and most sides in the past have preferred to chase here. Setting up a total at this venue isn’t easy as we have seen big run chases. The side winning the toss isn’t likely to have any hesitation in opting to bowl first in this game.
Gloucestershire come here with a big loss. Their bowlers failed miserably and will have to make a big recovery to win this game. Six consecutive losses at home against Sussex woud also be playing on their minds and they will need to play positive cricket to put pressure on Sussex. The Sharks are a good side even though they didn’t achieve the desired result in their opening game of the side. They have a powerful batting line-up, and this would put them ahead of Gloucestershire in this contest.
