Gloucestershire would start their campaign in the Royal London One-Day Cup, 2022 as they play Warwickshire at home. Gloucestershire has had a poor summer both in the County Championship and T20 Blast and they would be looking to come up with a better performance in the tournament. Warwickshire has enjoyed a decent run and they had topped the points table during the T20 Blast.
It will be a different ball game here and both sides would be eager for a good start to the season. Gloucestershire’s key players have been out of form, and this adds to the side’s troubles. There would be nerves in both camps before this game and we hope to see a good contest between the bat and the ball here.
Jack Taylor leads the side this season and he would be looking to make a perfect start playing at home. They had a poor outing in the T20 Blast and the Gloucestershire skipper would like to put that behind. The side has enjoyed an excellent record against Warwickshire in the past and Taylor would want his team members to take inspiration from those victories.
Ben Wells and Ben Charlesworth are a good opening pair, and the side would need a strong start from them in this contest. James Bracey and Taylor bring experience to the middle order and must steer the innings together. The side would also like to see a good show from Tom Lace, Tom Smith, and William Naish towards the end of the innings to reach a big score.
Their bowling attack looks slightly weak and the new ball pair of Paul Van Meekeren and James Shaw shall have to strike early and put the opponents on the back foot. Jared Warner and Smith will have to bowl well in the middle overs along with Dominic Goodman. Taylor needs to make use of his experience as most bowlers are short of experience.

Will Rhodes’ side would look to make a perfect start to the season. They would miss the services of key players in this game as many of them are busy with The Hundred. However, the side does have good bench strength and Rhodes would look to get the best performance out of them in this contest as their record against Gloucestershire has been poor.
Robert Yates and Dominic Sibley make a strong opening pair and they shall need to set up a big opening wicket stand in the game. Rhodes and Michael Burgess have been in good form and the duo shall look to steer the innings here. Krunal Pandya adds X-factor to the side down the order and he will look to add quick runs in this game along with Matt Lamb and Ethan Brookes.
The bowling attack shall face a big test in this game and a good spell would be expected from Craig Miles and Liam Norwell at the start of the game. Ethan Brookes and Manraj Johal are key players for the team, and they shall need to put brakes on the scoring rate in the middle overs. Pandya brings his experience to the table and adds variety to this attack along with Robert Yates.

We expect to see cloudy skies over Cheltenham on August 2 and there are chances of rain during the game. The wicket would offer bounce and carry to the fast bowlers and batting conditions are expected to be challenging. The side that bats first shall aim to have more than 300 runs on the board.
College Ground, Cheltenham is a small ground, but it has a lively surface where fast bowlers have done well. Batsmen who get their eyes set can play their strokes and score quickly on this track. Spinners get to turn the ball as the pitch starts breaking but they have to rely on their variations to do well at the venue.
It is a small ground and we have seen sides put up big scores batting first. The wicket starts helping the spinners in the second half of the game and chasing scores here has never been easy. Hence, we expect the side winning the toss in this game to have no dilemma about batting first in the game.
Gloucestershire has had a poor summer and they don’t have much to talk about. Their batsmen have done well but the bowling attack has failed to put batsmen under pressure. They will need a good show from their bowlers to perform well in this game. Warwickshire has a strong batting line-up and an experienced bowling attack. Their key players have done well this summer, and this would put them ahead in the game.
