CSK won the toss and opt to bowl. We're still backing Gujarat Titans to win!
Gujarat Titans will be mighty confident while taking on CSK on their home turf. The defending champions outplayed a strong and in-form MI in the last match here and given the pitch conditions we expect another such performance from the home team.
However, it is not only the Titans who would exploit these pitch conditions. CSK also have a brilliant batting lineup that can get the most out of this pitch. Gaikwad and Dube will be key players to watch out for in CSK.
On a pitch where even Shami was taken to the cleaners by a young batsman like Tilak Verma, CSK will be on shaky grounds given their inexperienced attack. Pathirana, Theekshana, and Tushar Deshpande are such tricky selections in the CSK side who can be the potential vulnerabilities.
There is still hope for CSK if MS Dhoni can plan for Gill’s early dismissal exposing the middle order of GT that hasn’t made many big contributions in recent games as they’ve been riding on Gill’s performances.
This could be MS Dhoni’s last IPL season and as such fans of CSK will be hoping to see the former India captain lift the trophy for one last time. However, it is no easy feat. Though CSK defeated GT in the Qualifier 1, the defending champions look like a different beast altogether on their home ground in Motera.
Deepak Chahar will be the key player for CSK with his swing bowling in the powerplay. There would be a bounty of Gill’s wicket and Chahar would be hunting for it right from the word ‘play’.
An early dismissal of the in-form batsman would open the doors of possibility for CSK. Pathirana is the death overs bowler and even if CSK get rid of Gill early on, there are still the likes of Miller and Tewatia in the lower order who can dominate the young Sri Lankan bowler.
Jadeja will be a key bowler and his spell in the middle overs will be crucial. Here’s another game changer for CSK. Breakthroughs from Jadeja can help break partnerships and unsettle GT as they approach the death overs.
Gaikwad and Conway have been in great form at the top while Shivam Dube has played brilliantly in the middle. Dube needs to play his best innings and take on the GT bowlers fearlessly.
Another vulnerability in CSK will be their finishing. MS Dhoni is likely to send Jadeja and Rayudu ahead of himself and these two haven’t been as consistent in finishing games this season.

Gujarat Titans looked a bit on the backfoot after their loss against CSK in Chepauk. However, after their recent win over MI, the defending champions have bounced back in great fashion. They will carry the momentum from that game and their key batsman, Shubman Gill will be even more confident as the final will take place at the same venue in Ahmedabad.
There was a lot of dew in the last match and that’s something Pandya will be considering at the toss. Things could get interesting if the pitch turns out to be two paced or on the slower side.
In that situation, GT might not have the upper hand. Also, if Gill goes back quickly, Hardik Pandya and Sai Sudharsan will have the responsibility of re-building the innings.
In terms of Match-Ups, watch out for Hardik bringing in Mohit Sharma against Rayudu. The GT bowler has a clear upper hand with 6 dismissals for 52 runs from 43 balls against Rayudu. Rashid Khan will be a key bowler in the middle for GT.
Even when he goes for runs, the Afghanistan spinner has the ability to quickly bounce back and pick a wicket. Rashid vs Dube will be another battle to watch out for. The latter has a strike rate of 175 against spin this season and was dismissed only thrice by a spinner.

It is a batting paradise here in Motera with the ball coming on to the bat nicely. The conditions get even better for batting as the game progresses. The weather will be partly cloudy with a high of 41 degrees Celsius. It will be clear by the time of the match while the temperature won’t fall significantly and be just around 35-36 degrees.
Gujarat Titans will defend their title in front of their home crowd in Ahmedabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Looking at the recent match it seems like a 190-210 score will not be enough and teams need to put up a massive total like GT did in the last game. The boundaries aren’t small here and batters need to time the ball well to clear the fence.
It is a good batting wicket and the home team are the best chasing side. They will opt to bowl and take on an inexperienced CSK bowling attack. Chennai Super Kings also have a solid batting lineup that can chase a total and knowing the difficulty of defending a score on this surface against this GT side, Dhoni would likely opt to bowl as well.
It is the IPL final, there will be nerves, and experience will come into play. It can be anyone’s game. There is no clear favourite in this battle. GT has a solid bowling attack and deep batting lineup with an in-form opener. CSK, on the other hand, has MS Dhoni as the skipper and a solid batting lineup. Considering the home advantage and the overall balance of the XI, we reckon Gujarat Titans have a slight edge going into this match.
