Gujarat Titans will be back to Ahmedabad after the heartbreak against KKR in their last outing at this venue. It was a brilliant overall effort from GT except for the one last over. Rajasthan Royals are also in solid form and will be a worthy opponent for Gujarat Titans.
It will be a close fight between the two sides given the number of match winners in both teams. Hardik Pandya is back in the side and will be a key player in the middle order along with the likes of David Miller and Rahul Tewatia. The duo of Tewatia and Rashid Khan adds great strength to the GT lineup.
The good news for RR is the current form of the opening batsman Jos Buttler. The batting performances haven’t been very consistent from the rest of the lineup and that is something Samson would be hoping to correct in this game.
The defending champions have lost just one of their 4 games so far this season. And that loss also came at a very unexpected time. The home crowd will be eager to see their team bounce back from that carnage where one Rinku Singh snatched the game away.
Though Gujarat haven’t had a long opening partnership, they’ve managed to cross the 50–run mark in the powerplay for the last three consecutive outings. With Shubman Gill in fine touch, we expect another brilliant start for the Titans as they take on an in-form Royals at home.
Sai Sudharashan is a surprising selection for a number 3 batsman considering his style of play and his previous knocks in TNPL. He is not a typical aggressive T20 batsman and the Titans may be looking for someone to play an anchor’s role and Sai fits the bill.
He scored 53 off 38 balls against KKR in his last innings on this ground. Though Pandya hasn’t managed to strike the ball well in his last couple of outings, he nonetheless is a key middle order batsman.
Gujarat has plenty of batting resources and is one of the strongest overall sides in the IPL this season. Shami, Alzarri Joseph, and Rashid Khan will be the key bowlers to watch out for in the GT squad.

Sanju Samson will be relieved after surviving the Dhoni storm in his last game at Chepauk. The brilliant yorker from Sandeep Sharma under pressure on the last delivery secured the Royals their 3rd win of the season.
Paddikal came in for Riyan Parag in the last game and scored 38 off 26 balls at number 3 after RR were put to bat first. He was part of the 77-run partnership with Jos Buttler for the 2nd wicket. Sanju Samson played a big role in the top order last year.
He played some fine knocks and stayed on the crease long enough to ensure the Royals finish with a competitive total. Shimron Hetmyer is another key batsman in the lower middle order who will be expected to play the finisher’s role for Rajasthan. He will be accompanied by R Ashwin and Dhruv Jurel in the lower order.
The bowling attack will pose a tough challenge to the hosts. The likes of Chahal, Zampa, and Ashwin will be key bowlers to watch out for. While Holder has been wicketless in the last two games, Sandeep Sharma’s experience will come handy in pressure situations.
Trent Boult was out of the XI in the last game and we reckon, RR will not have a strong bowling attack without him. He is crucial with the new ball and can deliver breakthroughs with his swing bowling.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson (c & wk), Devdutt Padikkal, Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jason Holder, Kuldeep Sen, Sandeep Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal, Trent Boult

It is a balanced pitch with batters finding more assistance out of the surface. Historically, the pitch has slowed down but in recent games, batters managed to post some big totals and also chase them down. The spinners would enjoy bowling here and the batters will need to stay on the crease longer before they are able to execute their strokes freely. The weather will be sunny with a high of 41 degrees Celsius.
The venue for the GT vs RR match is the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, formerly known as Motera. Both matches this season saw teams successfully chase down 175+ runs total. The average 1st innings score on this ground in domestic T20s is 163 runs. It will not be easy to defend anything below 180 on this ground.
Both teams have a solid battling order with big-hitting players at the top and in the lower order. The teams batting second have won more T20 games at this venue and both skippers would likely opt to bowl first.
Two of the best teams of IPL will lock horns in Ahmedabad as they compete for the top spot in the points table. The home team has a great looking battling lineup with many match-finishers in the lower middle order. The bowling can be an issue for both teams and given the conditions here, it is likely to come down to a contest between batters. As such the death overs will be crucial and Hardik Pandya needs someone reliable to deliver those. We reckon Gujarat Titans have a slight edge over the visitors and hence, they will start as favourites in our match prediction.
Our prediction is for Gujarat Titans to win
