73 competitive games are done and dusted and now we have the mega final of the Indian Premier League 2022. It has been a successful season where we have seen intense competition in most games. There aren’t any surprises for the finals either as the Top 2 sides would be fighting for the crowning jewel. The Titans had booked a berth in this game defeating the Royals in the 1st Qualifier. The Rajasthan Royals knocked the Royal Challengers Bangalore out of the tournament to enter the final for the second time.
The Gujarat Titans had won both the games played between the two teams this season and this would add to the side’s confidence. They have done well as a team and relied on collective performances rather than individual brilliance. Rajasthan Royals have had their best season since 2008 this year. Both sides are batting powerhouses, and this is expected to make this contest interesting.
Hardik Pandya’s side has scripted a dream story in its debut season. They topped the points table and registered a convincing 7-wicket win in the 1st Qualifier against the Rajasthan Royals. As they take on the same team in the final Pandya would be aware of the pressure on his team. He can’t let the guard down having come this far with a young group of players. The Titans’ skipper would like to end the tournament much like the way they have played in a majority of the games.
Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill have done well as a pair and the onus would be on them to deliver a good start. The middle-order looks formidable with Pandya and Matthew Wade being among the runs in the last few games. The trio of David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, and Rashid Khan have been the side’s greatest strength winning games with electrifying knocks down the order. The side would like to see them be at their best in the most important game of the season.
Mohammad Shami has dropped slightly in form, but he will have to lead this attack and get Buttler out early in the game. Yash Dayal has to offer good support with the new ball as Rajasthan has firepower at the top. Rashid Khan would be expected to work his magic being the best bowler for the side. Pandya, Alzarri Joseph, and Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore have important roles to play in the supporting act.

Sanju Samson’s side has made a grand entry into the final of the tournament. Their 7-wicket win against the Royal Challengers was as good a win as it gets. They bowled well to restrict the Royal Challengers to a small total and chased down the score clinically towards the end. As they play the final for the first time since 2008, the former champions would look for their second title win. They have lost to the Gujarat Titans in both the games this season and Samson would be looking to win the one that matters the most.
Jos Buttler hit his third ton of the season in the last game and makes a very formidable opening pair with Yashasvi Jaiswal. A special knock from him would be on the side’s mind. In the middle order, they have good firepower with Sampson looking in great form and he shall need to add runs with Devdutt Padikkal and Shimron Hetmyer. The side is happy to have Riyan Parag and Ravichandran Ashwin down the order as both these players have won it for the team in earlier games.
Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna hit form in the last game, and they will have to be at their best as the Gujarat Titans are a powerful batting side. Obed McCoy’s good spell in the last game would add to the side’s confidence as he has been struggling in the past. Yuzvendra Chahal will have to produce a special spell with Ashwin as he has been the highest wicket-taker in the tournament and must make the best use of his confidence.

There would be clear skies over Ahmedabad on May 29, and we expect to see a warm and humid evening. The wicket is two-paced, and batsmen would have to be watchful. Spinners are likely to enjoy the conditions in this game as the dry surface would make the ball turn. It is the big final and the side batting first would feel comfortable with a score of 180 runs or more on the board.
Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad has a flat surface and quick outfield. Batsmen have done well though the wicket can surprise them with its dual-paced nature. Batsmen who build their innings have been more successful here. Fast bowlers rely on their variations to earn rewards on this surface. It has been a happy hunting ground for the spinners as the ball can turn sharply and stop on the batsmen.
The wicket here is a challenging one to set a total as teams have chased big scores comfortably here in the past. There would be pressure on both teams here and they would like to have a target score in mind. The side winning the toss in this game would be happy to invite the opponent to bat first.
We are likely to see a cracker of a contest in this game with both sides looking in terrific form. The Rajasthan Royals would look for a special knock from Jos Buttler who has held the side on his shoulders. Their bowlers will have to show the same kind of form as they did in the last game against RCB. The Gujarat Titans are on the doorstep of history and can become the first side to win the tournament in its debut season. They have a well-balanced team and have played as a unit. This would put them slightly ahead of the Rajasthan Royals in this game.
