Hampshire Hawks would hope to be second time lucky in their home game against Somerset in Vitality T20 Blast 2022. The side has started the season on a poor note as they went down against Middlesex in their last game. They would like to win this home game before they get on the bus. Somerset comes into this game with a win against the Essex Eagles and the side is looking in excellent form
Somerset has won both the games they have played in the series, and this would add to their confidence. They have enjoyed playing at The Rose Bowl where the side has won the last three out of four games. Hampshire Hawks would have to put the last game behind and play with confidence to win this game.
James Vince would feel unlucky to have lost the first game against Middlesex which they ended up losing by 10 runs. They controlled most phases of the game but lost out towards the end. They haven’t fared well against Somerset in the past and Vince would want to see his players take up the challenge and earn their first points for the season in this game.
Ben McDermott and Aneurin Donald got starts in the last game and the side would need them to convert them into big scores. Vince’s form would add to his confidence, but the side would need runs from Joe Weatherley and Liam Dawson as their failure in the last cost the side dearly. Ross Whiteley and James Fuller showed their abilities with the bat, and they have an important role here.
Brad Wheal shall have to watch his line as he opens the bowling with Chris Wood who used the new ball well in the last game. Fuller and Nathan Ellis did well in the middle overs, and they will need to hunt as a pair as Somerset have a strong batting line-up. In Mason Crane and Dawson, the side does have depth in its bowling attack.

Tom Abell would be happy with the way his side has started the season. They have won both their games and come here with a 6 wicket win under the DLS method against Essex Eagles. Their batting line-up has looked formidable and Abell would like to carry that momentum forward. A win in this game would put them in a comfortable position for the rest of the tournament.
Tom Banton has struggled but Will Smeed has looked in excellent form and the pair would have to offer a good start. Rilee Rossouw and Tom Abell have played their parts well and they make this middle order formidable. The side would also expect to see runs from Tom Lammonby, Lewis Gregory, and Lewis Goldsworthy as all three bowlers have a reputation for being good hitters of the ball.
It was a good show with the ball from the side in the last game and they would like to see similar spells with the new ball from Josh Davey and Tom Lammonby in this game. Gregory was expensive in the last game, and he will have to do well along with Roelof van der Merwe. Marchant de Lange gave a glimpse of his variations in the last game, and he makes this attack formidable with Lewis Goldsworthy.

The skies over Southampton would have cloud cover and we might see spells of rain during the game. The wicket is expected to be challenging for the batsmen as the ball would swing and seam. Batsmen have to be watchful on this track and anything over 160 runs would be tough to chase.
The Rose Bowl, Southampton is a good surface to bowl as there is seam movement and swing on offer. Batsmen must spend their time at the crease to play their strokes as we have seen in the past. It hasn’t been the best venue for the spinners as there is little turn here on offer for them.
The wicket looked challenging to bat on in the last game as we saw bowlers getting something off the surface early in the game. Chasing scores have proved to be easier on this surface. The side that wins the toss in this game would have little hesitation in opting to bowl first.
Hampshire Hawks would be under pressure after their poor outing in the last game. They have a poor record at their home ground against Somerset and need to break this jinx. The side would need good performances from its middle order to win the game. Somerset have registered big wins in both games played so far and they would start favorites in this game.
